Warranty

Not having got either a service book or an owners manual yet can anyone tell me wether the warranty starts from date of first reg or sale and for how long it runs. The dealership I bought from are clueless!!!
Also got a little brown bracket under the rear of the car visable from about 20 yards without bending down. Should it be there?

The warranty is three years from date of reg, the thing u see behind is a transport tie down that should have been removed on Pre Delivery Inspection.
