I'm sure this has been posted before but I can't find it on Search so apologies if it's a repeat of a topic.

Over the last two weeks when getting out of the car, I've received some fairly nasty electric shocks. I don't even have to drive the car very far at all, in fact I live half a mile from work and the intensity of the shock is still the same as a two hour drive.

My wife is impressed as the spark is quite spectacular and I've had a burn mark on my finger which blistered nicely to prove it!

Any ideas as to what I can do? Is it static build up (even on half mile drive) or could it be another cause. Anyone had this?

Thanks.

As you get out of the car, keep a firm grip on the metal part of the door as you place your foot on the ground, you won't get a shock then. You WILL get a shock if you gingerly close/touch the door if you havn't done this. Seems different people and cars are, (almost unexplainably) affected by this phenomenon! We all know it's static, but why it affects some people and cars and not others is down to many variables such as tyres, clothing, distance travelled, even body chemistry. Sometimes it happens to me, sometimes not,(?).

Attach a rubber strap to the chassis and let it touch the ground, very standard in Aus.
