1000 miles I think is the quoted figure although some say just thrash it ASAP. I can't claim to be an expert though

Welcome mate... I kept mine to under 3000 rpm for the first 500 miles and then 1000 revs extra per 500 miles after that.

It is seriously difficult though...

There is an argument to drive it like you stole it from day 1.

I think smiler on here did and his engine is superb

Actually the book says under 4000rpm for 600 miles then you can do what you want....

Key is the warmup which you should always do. All V8's have piston rings.

How interesting, I will be there collecting my new one as well, assuming all goes well today with the tuning boys.

Oh yes, I will be running my one in, and ringram is right also, warm the engine up first before giving it the beans!

I will look out for you on the day and say Hi, mine is the red hot one with the throaty exhusts.

Sorry to say VXRPhantom, that we will not be meeting up tomorrow as my car has been delayed untill next week, enjoy you car and who knows we might still see each other one day.

I plan to take my VXR down to the Nurberg ring once it has been run in, just to see how she tackles the mountain, are there others on here that also enjoy the ring?

Thanks for the advice i think i will definately be running in gently, it will make it that much more satisfying when i can eventualy plant my right foot to the floor and let her rip....

Is it wrong that i have been bursting into spontanious laughter when stuck behind the wheel of my aged BMW and thinking of driving life after i pick up the vxr?

Also must get out of the habit of staring at various 'performance cars' in traffic and thinking if only i were in the new car..

Roll on the morning...

Slackalice catchup sometime.

Once you get the monaro, your face will start to hurt, and won't stop hurting for a long time, due to the constant grinning
