I took the 'ro to the local dealer to have a look at a few bits and bobs:-

Blemish on bonnet under the clearcoat (i.e. in the paint itself)

The above they contacted their regional dude about and I was told this afternoon that the 'ro only had a 12 month warranty on the paint, and that therefore it's not their problem

Is this the case, as it's more than obvious that this defect came from the factory like this...

I'm also suffering from the door handles beginning to flake, and now the paint's coming away from the bumper around one of the reversing sensors

Paintwork is only 1 year

If you can prove it came from the factory like that you may have a case, but I really wouldn't hold out oo much hope.

Had the door handles painted on my 04 CV8 just a couple of weeks ago under warranty, no problems. Garage took a couple of pics, then phoned me back after a couple of days to book in for the work to be done.

Was just wanting to make sure the dealership over here hadn't just fobbed me off

I should have got off my butt and complained about it sooner, as it was on the bonnet when I acquired the car with 6k on the clock from Motorbodies, but I just let it sit there until finally asking about it last week (car only went out of warranty on the 20th March too )

The fault must have been present before the 20th then and so is covered by the warranty.

Years ago I had a Cinquecento that faded from red to dull orange. Being a dummy I waited until the 3 year paintwork warranty had expired before doing anything. Fiat obviously turned the claim down, I pointed out that it had been fading since new and had obviously not faded in the last 3 months, Fiat rejected it.

One Wednesday I took the form into the small claims court, the next Friday (< 48 hours) Fiat phoned me and agreed a complete respray, plus repayment of my small claims court fee.

Just my experiences, but small claims courts do scare the crap out of big companies.

Smiler.

So as mine is 2+ years old, does this mean I'm gonna have to fork out myself for the door handle surrounds to be re-sprayed?
