I must be the only numpty not to have managed to fit my new mirror. Seemed to be going well when I popped off the old one, but I think more came off with it than should have done!!

I have the old mirror now separated from what I'll describe as the carrier, which is a square ish black plastice piece with two yellow prongs sticking out the back of it, plus another triangular black plastic piece.

Left in the mirror houseing on the car is the again black plastic unit with two rubber teets sticking out of it!!

After an hour of pratting about I still can't get it assembled.

It looks like the yellow prongs should go over the rubber teets and the black triangle makes up the third location point, but something is still very wrong.

Any help greatly appreciated, a diagram would help as well.

Confused from Berkshire,

Im sure you have taken too much out with the mirror. The mirror comes out with a frame that is obviously part of the mirror. (not being funny). The square and the triangle should have stayed in the mirror housing

If what you took off is more than what was in the box, then you've rubber-duck'd it.

It's a straight replacement....

Been out playing with it again still no joy, think I'll either have to take the otherside off and see if that helps with the reassembly, but will run the risk of having no mirror's. Or I could take out the torque screws holding the motor assembly together and see if looking at the mechanism somehow indicates how to re assemble the whole lot.

Could end in tears!

Hi Boyce

Not sure if this will help - but here is a picture of the back of my original mirror so that you can see what you should have without taking off your other one.....

Steve

Sorry it's a bit dusty!!

Steve, thanks mate, got that view though from the new mirror, unfortunatley I got the next part of the mirror come off with that lense, i.e so you can't see the miror from the back as you can in your photo.

Got no idea how to reassemble it, so unless someone can come up with another photo it looks like I'll have to book it into the dealer next week. Expensive bloody mirror.

The fact it came apart so easy though makes me think I can't be the only one thats had this problem.

Any help greatly appreciated,

did the same thing myself, but actually damaged part of the bit which should have stayed on the vehicle.
You need a star key to take off the plate still in the back of the mirror, split the unit, ( clips together) and reassemble the white plastic parts back into the unit. it's a bit fiddly and needs a bit of care, but you can get it all back together.
Good Luck!

Thanks I new someone else must have had the problem, sorted it now anyway, once I worked out what went where it was just a case of finding a way of reassembling it all. Like you I had to take the motor mechanism out and carefully assemble it backwards so to speak. Still it works a treat now.

Cheers,
