Hiya, been lurking on the forum for a few weeks now, picking up bits of information about 6ltr Monaro VXRs. I've recently sold my Evo VII, and had my Impreza phase before that, so this is quite different sort of driving experience I expect, but then that's what I'm looking for now. All I have left at the moment is a V6 automatic Omega bus, and I'm desperate for something to play in again!!
Anywho, I just had a few questions I was hoping you might have answers too.
Firstly regarding warranty, because I'd really like to run a supercharged car, if not a 500, then a VXR with the conversion, depending on what I can find. Is a VXR converted at a later date, still able to hold a Vauxhall warranty? Is it worth holding out for a second hand 500 for any other reason, rather than trying to find a VXR and then convert?
I see quite a few cars with just a few hundred miles on them. Has anyone had any experience with buying a car like that? I just worry that they've been used and abused, whithout being warmed up properly etc, and driven by all sorts for demonstration purposes, which may not do the car any favours at all. Or am I being overly cautious?
Lastly (until I can think of summat else!), are there any known differences amongst the last couple of years of 6ltr cars produced?
Have found a black 56 plate with 4000 miles on locally, so will be trying to view that today some time I think, and arrange my first drive if possible.
Many thanks,
Andrew

Welcome Andrew,
Unfortunately I can't answer the warranty question. The majority of the cars with a few hundred miles on will be Pre-reg cars, these are used as a way to clear stock, however there may be ones lurking around on the market that were used as demonstration vehicles for the shows such as MPH. This is by no means a downside as the vehicles are the vast majority of the time very well maintained.
All the 6 litre cars were produced in Fall 04/Early 05 and brought over then. So there isn't any difference between a 55 plate one and a 07 plate one.
Greens Vauxhall in Kent and Picadors in Southampton are very highly regarded dealerships on this forum and usually have a few used cars around.
Finally it may be worthwhile to use this forum as a advantage when looking at certain cars, people may know the history of certain vehicles which are currently up for sale.
Hope this helps
Ollie
AJ Welcome mate I`ve not been on long either but this forum is a good place to be.
Having bought an 05/56 reg 6.0 vxr in black I guess i`m about two months ahead of you. Mines blown now, and what a hoot. The engines are strong and running 6psi(the entry level)its well capable so engine should be no problem. Greens explained that they took a realistic view on warranty items (what difference does a supercharger make to peeling door handles for instance)which was good enough for me.
Don`t take too long though the stock levels are low now and just like land, THEY AINT MAKIN ANY MORE

Well, the deposit is down with Greens on a 1000 mile old VXR 500 in black! It also has APs, ripshifter, and the essential cat-back already fitted, and will be de-badged front and back hopefully, with just the '500' badges under the side repeaters on show. New car excitement now reached fever pitch lol!
Was really hoping to get the suspension on and ready to take away as well, but apparently there are complications with the coil over set up? Not got the details yet, but will hopefull speak to Brian next week. Is this any different to the Avos that Monkfish have on their books?
Oh yeah...
