Went to the garage today...

Parked the car opposite to the pump so had to pull the nossle over.
Filled the car up, over 56 quid.
Got to the cashier after pushing past a rather chubby gentleman chatting to another employee.
About to pay when they both asked me ' we are wondering whether that is your car or whether you have stolen it '. It's just that it was in here 5 minutes ago and someone else was driving it. He was asking where xxx was.
Perhaps not driving it for a month has made me a little more aware of what it is like but but both of the (female) cashiers liked the car and wished me happy motoring.
Am starting to feel guilty about replacing it as my daily driver...........

1. Fills up with petrol
2. Squeezes past two people
3. They ask if he's stolen it because theyve just seen another Yellow Monaro 5 mins ago
4. Though to himself, this wouldn't happen if I drove the Ro on a daily basis because he now only uses it for hi-days and holidays

That's how I read it. They are rare enough for people to notice.
I've had similar comments - although the last time I was asked was when I was driving my C1 and the cashier remembered my Monaro. They said they'd not seen another Monaro before, or since.

Yellow monaro (unknown) fills up with fuel. back to point 1. 5 mins later our said Monaro FILLS UP AGAIN! I know they're thirsty beasts but SURELY no matter what the mods would you be able to drink 70 litres of premium in 5 minutes?! and then point 4.WTF!

I went to the garage to fill up with petrol. Squeezed past fat guy blocking the door. Both the people behind the tills said " we were wondering whether you are the or if you have stolen it as that car was here 5 mins ago ".
Having driven a corsa for a month I am not used to a car that attracts attention even if it is covered in signage. Anyway the delivery driver (it turns out) had been to the garage to ask directions to my house!! Clearly the car is noticable enough to be spotted and recognised which they liked (surprisingly as they were both women) who told me to enjoy my car!!
Diff is back to 3.41 with no noticable change to acceleration which is interesting although Tiler did say the 3.91 was worthless on a supercharged car.
Perhaps being apart from the P&J messes with the typing........

I have wortec exhaust and headers, I hardly ever use 5th or 6th gear so .....
is the sports diff a good upgrade(I can't afford a supercharger)for my car ?

Are you saying fat guy blocking the door was the delivery driver. I mean come on now Alan. I know your car is as quick as greased weasel poo but I hardly think its capable of the type of velocity required to travel backward in time.

The reason i and others have advised Alan against a 3.9 diff on his supercharged car is this. The power level and delivery with the Harrop/Wortec supercharger is so aggressive that with the lower gearing one of two things will happen, the wheels will spin wildly in the lower gears, thus hindering forward motion, good laugh as it is, or if you have a good traction control, it will simply limit the power to control wheelspin. The overall effect is that your car will not be quicker. If you had better grip of course, then things would be different.
For a natuarally aspirated car with power in the 400's it a great mod. Will make accerlaration times quicker and gives a 6th gear that is more usable.
If your going to go supercharged, then i would advise against a 3.9 diff. If not then i would.

Totally true. Shame I wasted a couple of k finding out although in fairness apart from Tiler's car no one else has the same mods.
The real world feel now back to the orginal diff ratio is more power gets to the tarmac and the delivery is a lot smoother. As Roger says if you are going down the low power route go for the diff upgrade, the SC or TC route I would suggest staying as you are. anyone with the SC option seeking more power may also consider the Harrop diff cover to give more coolant to the diff - I have.

I would qualify this as an owner of both Turbo and Supercharged cars with similar diff mods. It works very well on normally aspirated and Turbo cars but agree not with Supercharged cars with Harrop type power delivery. A good example is the RS versions of Mitsubishi EVOs or Subarus and Group B Rally cars, 2 or 4wd. Huge acceleration to a max of 115-ish mph. I intend running a 3.9 diff on a big turbo conversion with no doubts as to the improvements on performance compared to my OE ratio.
