MY GTS-R has developed a loud clanking / clattering sound from underneath the car. When I first heard it all sorts of nightmare scenarios flashed through my mind - but after listening under the car I reckon it's just one of the cats - perhaps the monolith has broken loose or something...

Does anyone know where I could go to get that sorted? It's got a CAPA exhaust on it at the moment - I suspect someone will have to cut the existing cat(s) out and weld new ones in ther place..?

I did find a firm in the Midlands (on the Web) who appear to be exhaust specialists but I'd prefer a personal recommendation...

TIA

There are a set of cat bypass pipes in classifieds at the moment, could be an alternative.

Hi,

My Capa F-320 is in the garage at the moment having a new cat fitted under warranty i think the part has had to come from Australia. I should be picking it up this weekend and the company is in the Northamptonshire area and i will let you know the details of the garage once i have got mine back.

Zam, I've got a feeling that I was the original owner of your car GTS-R 009? If so, when I sold it I gave the Malcolm the buyer some de-cat pipes that I had made up, but only used for a short period. Might be worth making contact to see if they were passed on to the next owner, as with a couple of gaskets and a re-map you're away. ( 15 min, bolt on job at MOT time)

I am the current owner of GTS-R #9 and have the de-cat pipes in my garage.

Happy to part with them.

The tricky thing for me will be that I can't have anything done that will affect the mapping - it's custom mapped at the moment and don't want to interfere with that at all.

I am assuming that someone cutting the old cats out and replacing them with a new set of steel monoliths wouldn't require any remapping....

Do you have standard cats or sports cats ?

They are whatever cats came in the CAPA exhaust - if it's the system I'm thinking of, they are described as "high flow cats" but I have no more detailed information than that... I would guess they are 200-cell steel cats though...

Suggest you speak to Mark at RapidGB, I think he knows CAPA parts quite well and he can advise you. He has my GTS - R which the cats are coming off of but they will only be the standard ones.
