Found these on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl
Anyone know if they'd fit inside the standard 18" CV8 wheels, or whether I'd have to upgrade to 19" (as I would for AP's).
Also anyone heard of them, rate them? They'd cost about the same as the VXR items including postage from Oz, and about half the cost of the AP's.
Comments welcome, thanks

They should fit fine, my VT2 has 18" wheels with the 343mm fronts.

The APs fit inside 18in CV8 wheels (although you have about 2mm clearance) and so will those PBRs (which look very similar to the standard VXR brakes but with slightly larger front disks)

Yes, they will fit. Watch the shipping costs though or you may get a nasty surprise.

It might be worth hanging on for a 2nd hand set from a VXR, it will work out much cheaper.

Yeah postage is expensive. Like doubles the cost. I think I paid about $400 for brake shipping, then there is duty and vat.

Best idea is to get yourself over on holiday with a stout and empty bag smile

Many thanks all for comments. Much appreciated. I'd love a set of VXR brakes but anyone got any?? I DESPERATELY need better brakes, and can't quite stretch to AP's yet, need something in between. If I can't get VXR's soon then I'll go for these. HELP ANYONE?!

sorry not spare, just wanted to say how good they are driving

I do have a spare set of cv8 brakes though, try LSV or Monkfish for vxr stuff

Yeah I know, I had VXR brakes on my last CV8, best value upgrade. However don't seem to be any about at the moment. That's why I'm looking at other options, though the cost for AP's seems a bit high, especially when I have to factor in the new set of (19" min) wheels and tyres at the same time.
FYI the brakes listed on ebay (above) I have been quoted AU$650 for postage, bringing total price to about £1150 delivered. Quite reasonable I thought, also with choice of drilled, grooved or both.

I have to say that without using the AP's that the standard cv8s are up to it for the road. The vxr's and pads are a great improvement and much more than suitable to the road. At the cost of the AP's over the VXR's (and the potential problems as mentioned in other threads)that I would personally not ever be able to justify the cost of uprade. Then there is the fear factor I have in drilled discs too

As with tyre wear and fuel efficiency, I find my driving style and the standard CV8 brakes are not wholly compatable. On those occasions when I am a little enthusiastic, the brakes fail to inspire confidence. On a car of this spec I find the standard brakes to be woefully dire.

First ap's will fit std cv8 wheels and you DON'T have to buy 19's

I have had a set of AP's since Feb 06 and 25k miles, and touch wood - no probs

Still on original pads

They have possibly saved my bacon on a couple of occasions compared with crappy originals, and yes £2.5k is a lot - but what cost health!
Shame on Holden for specing originals as adequate - keeping customers fit to drive your future cars is quite a sales aid

Rant ends.

700 for the vxrs vs 2.5k for the ap's

I doubt there is any method available to man that could justify that outlay difference for a road car...

Absolutly correct, you can retain the standard wheels.

That's a negatory! I might aswell take my spare out and get a can of goo. I don't really fancy swapping wheels around by the side of the road. I could guess a full size spare I suppose...
