Today whilst driving home I was behind a Calibre. It was a kind of tungsten colour and you know, it has hardly aged at all and still looks quite fresh.

The same can be said for the MKIV Supra, still looking good 14 years after launch. I feel the same will be said for the Monaro too as the coupe style seems to age gracefully though the snoots on the vxrs may date a bit more than the clean cv8.

In that time every single saloon or hatch has aged typically badly. What was once a fresh 1996 BMW now looks old, dated whereas the same year calibre looks fresh. Same for the Mondeo, the vectra, omega not one has aged as well as the coupe's.

So, the vxr8, 9 or 10 years down the line will it have aged as well and possible bear the brunt in resale values?

It's not so much that the Calibra design has aged, more that it has been "artificially aged" by the current "level" of buyer.

Still remember my jaw hitting the floor the first time I saw one on the road. I had an SE2 a few years later.

Several people have compared the VXR to the Calibra, but I'm less happy about that!!

Agreed, unless it has some plastic attachments.

Agreed once again... I think the bonnet things spoil the lines personally.

IMHO no, its a 4 door saloon, not a coupe. I think it also looks too much like an Astra to be distinctive enough.

I think the best aging car of all has to be the Porsche 928. It still looks modern now.

Nice car and I also agree that the Calibra (un modded my Barry) is a classic.

I never saw the appeal of the 406 Coupe. Everyone raved about it but it just looks like a 406 with 2 doors, nothing special at all IMO.
