CV8 =Warped/Dodgy brakes advice
Discussion
Hi
I picked up my Monaro yesterday and it's lovely. One thing I am concerned about is the brakes, if I brake quite heavily from 80 mph the steering wheel vibrates badly. I suspect warped discs but would appreciate advice from you lot. It's done 11,00 miles and I'm surprised the dealer would have handed the car over with such a fault. Are warped discs a known problem on the Monaro?
Thanks in advance.

I think it might be, I've got a 6.0 VXR and there's a vibration through the pedals when braking hard through 50mph. That was apparent when I picked it up but its quite subtle so easily missed. It's going in to be looked at this week.
Since however the right front disc developed a squeal and then one of the pads has self destructed and its now metal on metal so I've had to stop driving it!
What with the other posts on brakes I think June is dodgy brake month!

Thanks for the info. I've only just bought the car and it seems immaculate in every way except the problem with the brake judder. Seems ok at lower speed but from 80mph through to 50mph it seems quite bad. It's been throught the Network Q checks and I cannot believe it wasn't picked up. I'll contact the dealer tomorrow and see what he suggests.
single use - didn't know that, nor do I suspect do my local dealer that fitted my VXR brakes to save a trip south. Certainly wasnt charged for new bolts so I suspect they've re-used my cv8 caliper bolts. I assume they are single use as they are prone to failure? Should I be getting a new set of bolts sorted and have them swapped?

I'll drop in to the local Holden dealer and ask the guy on the spares counter.Will have an answer for you tomorrow.
Good job you only just picked the car up because you can return it for the fault to be repaired. Unfortunately you will probably find the same problem occuring again.
I had the same problem on two occassions in the past before going for the AP upgrade(which are fantastic).
I was probably lucky but once the brake judder started to get quite noticeable i used the brakes even harder, to the point of the brake pedal going long(ie plenty of heat into the brakes). At this point i stopped using the brakes and drove gently untill the brakes were cool again.
This cured the steering wheel wobble when braking while the discs were not worn out. Once the discs were scored, blue and cracked approaching 50K miles the AP's went on.
Worth a try,
