A bit nit picky in places:

"the VXR8 remains a steel-bodied car powered by an engine producing just 69bhp per litre." That engine is really about torque through the rev range, not peak high rev power.

"If the ride quality is not everything we’d hoped for, the VXR8’s handling is a revelation." Hardly a fault; the target market wants handling at all costs, otherwise they would opt for a regular Holden.

If the full Holden range was sold in the UK they may see the car in its proper perspective: a niche, hard edged, performance model for those who find a Holden Calais or Caprice too soft and who find cream leather and wood trim too fussy.

I think you are probably right about the target market in England, however the target is quite different in Perth. The HSV badge is a status symbol, very few buyers have any interest in performance driving or motorsport. I've said before, I am having a lot of trouble finding a used VZ R8 clubsport with a manual gearbox. "Clubsport? yeah, I drive it to the footy club" rolleyes

But isn't that just the Aus market's fondness for auto transmissions. To many, manuals are just a cost saving device found in cheap Japanese and Korean cars. Right or wrong, that's the mindset.
