Air Bags are in the B Pillar - I read a thread a while back saying that is why there is a message saying "airbag" so if you do (god forbid, touch wood, etc etc ) have a you know what... then the fire brigade would know not to go loopy lou with their cutting devices straight into a gas charged airbag device............happy driving!

I posted that info...... but have since realised that it's not so much for indicating where to or where not to cut... but just to indicate that the vehicle has airbags/side airbags.

Sometimes, after an accident, the airbags don't deploy straight away and can activate at a later time.... leading to serious injuries for both passengers and emergency workers.

Someone said that the Monaro side airbags were in the seat..... That's why the side airbag recall involved putting a spring under the front seat - but I might be wrong

OK - thanks. So, I guess we need a Greens/Picador/Monkfish, etc. comment to be definitive on where they are..

I'm going to be taking it all to bits soon and wanted to know where I needed to be careful!

I like the seat idea - it always confused me why we had an airbag recall that involved a spring under the seat - that might explain it.

Anyone got a definitive answer?

Correct, in all modern Holdens and HSV's, the bags are in the seats.

Hi Steve,

I am 99% sure they are in the seats, as you have to be careful not to trigger the airbags when removing them for soundproofing etc (they have connector behind the side panels). Simply answer is to disconnect the battery first.

My previous coupe was similar and they do either vinyl or thinner leather on the side of the seats to allow for the air bag to go off. I also don't remember seeing them in the pillar when I had it in bits.

Cheers
Steven

Sounds conclusive to me then!! Thanks all.

I hadn't seen them on my travels through my car so far, hence my confusion. Not heard of them being in the seat before!

Side airbags are in the seats as already stated. Side airbags are always in the seats, as the seat moves the airbag stays constant in position to the person in the seat. Curtain airbags are in the a, b, and c pillars.
