After a little guidance from those that are not using their car as a daily driver.

I am getting a company car - order should go in and in August I should take delivery. Now I either sell the Monaro or keep it as a weekend toy. With the cash spent on it, keeping seems a good idea.

Any pitfalls in this, flat battery etc etc?

None at all, and it`ll feel real fast again without invalidating you s/c warranty.

not not at all, mine is just a toy, only use it every other weekend and just for hooning about, use the jeep if I need to pop out and get something and my scooter for work. The battery should be fine unless there are any aftermarket alarms or imobilisers fitted. Saying that should get it back friday with 500+ hp.

what company car you getting, I was offered one on a previous job and was a toss up between a skoda VRS, seat leon 1.8 20v T and a megane 2.0T 225 (now 230) but depends on the allowance I guess. Least tax per hp.

Mine is a second car. Use it only on weekends and doing so makes you appreciate it even more.

If I know it's not going to get used for a couple of weeks, I tend to let the engine idle for about 10 mins on the drive every now and then whilst I'm waiting for my tea. Seems to do the trick as well as rattling the window frames at the front of the house....

I have to admit the Monaro wouldn't be my first second car choice (if you know what I mean). I would much rather a Lotus Europa or VX220 Turbo to go and blast around the place in.

The Monaro wins my heart because you CAN do 1,000 miles in it no problems and then get very sideways the next. As a weekend car I don't think it is *raw* enough for me.

I know you have heavily modified yours so it is logical to keep it rather than throw all the money on mods away. Tough call.

I've used mine as a weekend car for 18 months, first one for 12 and second one for 6, no problems with either. It's still apleasure to get in and use it either for long journeys, or going for a swift blast. Still has the advantage of being able to take the kids out in it, and still got that V8! I did think about a Cayman or a Boxter at one time but 4 seats and Monaro (if that makes sense) won

Wouldn't dare leave it unattended here even though the area is classed as 'God's waiting room' (Granny farming on an epic scale around here- two nursing homes within sight of my lounge window). Tend to sit in it during idle(safe haven from a house of squabbling kids) for a bit of solitude.

And no, it's not the old folk who go around nicking cars before some bright spark mentions it!

Mines a toy as well and the only issue I have (not a problem) is that the hand-brkae may take a tad effort to break loose if its been standing for a while and the discs go a bit rusty but a quick blast & brake soon gets ride of that....and under no circumstances, spray with WD40 rolleyes

The main reason for it is that I have to leave it outside under a tree so it gets covered in all sorts of cr4p.

weekend car here as well and at current repayments its probably costing me 100 quid for every trip out I make in it - worth every penny.

Same here as well.

I worked out what it's costing me and I cannot justify it - not even a little bit (stupid me!). So... I'm getting the exhaust done in a couple of weeks. tongue out

Yup. I did the opposite, after years of driving boring diesels I decided to sink everything into the Monaro. When you consider you can buy a CV8 for the price of a new hot hatch and the servicing is cheap the only thing left is the petrol, tax & depreciation. If you do less than 20k miles a year I really don't see the point of running 2 cars.

I should add I've got a Kawasaki ZX-12R for summer so I guess techincally I'm a fag also :-)
