just watched the 5th gear review and noticed on the high speed run she took it to over 120mph in 4th gear at about 5500 rpm

now when I was in germany I took mine in 4th and am sure my ro was topping out in 4th at about 110mph (from memory) - is the gearing a lot different?

6.0 VXR tops out at about 145 in 4th. So about the same. CV8 should be taller!

VXR8 / Monaro vxr
1st 3.01/2.97
2nd 2.07 / 2.07
3rd 1.43 / 1.43
4th 1/1
5th 0.84 / 0.84
6th 0.57 / 0.57

FD 3.7 / 3.46

The VXR8 is quicker on standing starts and quicker in the gears. We're inviting Autocar to retest the car once its got a few miles on. In australia a journo from one of the mags has hit 5.01sec 0-62mph.

The cars all arrive from Australia limited to 155mph.

Until of course G*eens , P%cador , Wortec , Monkfish and WPP get their hands on them....

It should be noted that the auto has different gearing.

1st 4.03
2nd 2.36
3rd 1.53
4th 1.15
5th 0.85
6th 0.67

Diff 3.27

Does this mean the delimited auto has the top speed (by my crappy calcs) of 185mph (in fifth!)?

Also if you guys what to know some tips and tricks with the VEs feel free to ask as I have had my SSV since January and know most

145 in 4th? I'm sure its about 20mph per 1000rpm? Clearly I need to retest

I'm pretty sure it won't do 145 in 4th. Gearcalc says a standard CV8 will do 130mph @ 6000rpm in 4th.

My CV8 doesn't rev that high... if it did then it would be doing about 145mph.
What modifications did it have to make it rev that high?

6.0 revs higher than CV8 anyway, remap etc for extra 250 rpm.

VXR8 revs to 6600 std.

Ah I didn't realise you were talking about the 6.0

Does the Wortec tune raise the rev limit on the 5.7?

pretty commonplace from what I've read in forums to raise the limit by around 500rpm as part of a remap, the stock limiter is set very conservatively, not sure if Wortec modify it as part of their tune. Any higher though you better start looking at valvetrain components or somethings going to break!
