Emissions for imports??
Discussion
Guys I would be really grateful if anyone can help on this emissions related question.
I am thinking of doing a head and cam package on my clubsport then bringing it home to the UK. I hear that cams will make the emissions worse. I will also have performance cats which probably won't improve things!
Anyway my question is, given my plans for this car, how likely is it I will pass the emission requirements for a 2001 imported vehicle?
Are the emission tests part of the SVA, or MOT or both, and what are the limits for each emission?
Cheers!

Cats are almost essential.
Also figure out your cam overlap. If its more than -10* at 0.050 then you will have a challenge.
Most blower cams have low/no overlap. NA cams have a fair bit.
AFR must remain +/- 0.03 from 14.7 at idle and 3000rpm tests. (2 tests are done AFAIK)
PLUS HC and CO emissions are measured.
The AFR helps ensure NOx emissions are minimised, while the others are self explanitory.
So no leaning out fueling to reduce HC and CO to pass as the AFR/Lambda test will get you.
Also closed loop fueling will help keep it together.
You can probably get the detailed info from the dvla website or something which will give you PPM limits for the tests.
Im pretty sure SVA entails the same test as the MOT, which if it doesnt is required for registration in any case.
... which all means you should bolt on that Harrop H122 kit instead as it should pass fine and give around the same power level.
