Hi,

a few questions about VXR8 gauge temps etc...

1. My water temp is always quarter. Thought it was half? Is this normal?
2. Oil temp seems to be 110 as a norm but does go up to 120 on odd occassions. What is the norm?. What would one expect on a track day?

thanks

Finally, when's the supercharger available? shoot

surely if the cars are setup to cope with temp in Aussie summers its not surprising they run a little cooler than you might expect over here? Or am I being stupid - again?

It should run 1/4 to 1/2 in our climate. The oil temp we've seen at 150 after a track session , all still ok according to HSV

The VXR8 runs at a consistent 195 deg F water temp at full operating temp and the gauge shows between the 1/4 and 1/2, When the engine gets up to 210 degF the gauge is around 1/2.

The fans come on at 235 degF and step up to high at 266 deg F........

The Oil temp runs around 90 at cool idle and 100 at hot idle. When pressing on using A roads it shows around 110.

The most we have recorded is 148 and that was pushing very hard and it cooled down without problems.

As for the supercharger it is running fine. Have done 600 miles so far so only 400 to go before it is back to the dyno for testing again.

I will post results etc. when we are happy.

thanks for the techie info. Always useful. Is the oil cooler man enough for the various upgrades including s/c?

I presume V8's naturally run hotter. My MKIV Supra and Noble M12 are normal around 90 for oil. 120 max!.

one thing I did notice today was that the speedo on the VXR8 seems to run 2-3 mph faster than my sat nav.

The monaro was spot on....

Is there a legal thing about speedo's ??

I tested at motorway speeds. Not sure about slower 40 or 50 zones.

UK regulations state that "under no circumstances shall the true speed be greater that the indicated speed"
Most manufacturers cover themselves by adding 2 or 3 km/h to the speedo reading to cover different tyres, stackup of errors and other things that could effect the reading.
