Going with the mpg topic recently I thought I'd expand and ask:

How much do you pay to fill your motor up?

What fuel do you use?

How many miles do you get out of a full tank?

One long smile per gallon.

Oh sorry you said miles! Never really checked it, I tend to fill up every time I see a Shell garage so usually costs me £40 or so.

MPG varies between 12 and 26 depending on my mood

Same as V8 HSV, except I use Tesco 99.

Interesting, Tesco produces worse economy on mine...

Interesting indeed, perhaps worth bearing in mind though that you have rather more power and weight (I seem to recall) than me? At any rate, it'll be interesting to see the difference next week, I'm driving it to Denmark via Dover-Boulogne, so plenty of chance to sample different fuels then....

It really is very very sensitive to how much you can use 6th gear.

Average cost is £60 with Tesco 99 which gives around 180 miles to a tank, thats with commuting and traffic use.

Expect lots more on a motorway, eg last week 80 miles london to kent averaged 29.6mpg, throw in 20 miles of hard driving on country roads and the average dropped to 25.5mpg overall.

About 55 quid for me on regular unleaded, which gives me around 250miles, I did use the premium fuels for a while, but didn't notice any difference, that said though a re-map is on it's way (since I drove a friends car that made me jealous!!) so I'll go back to the premium fuel then.

treat mine sometimes to super unleaded and it definatly makes a difference to the way it runs and sounds. Much more eager and able to lug at low revs in higher gears. Always reset readout for mpg at every fillup, best so far 32 on a 70 mph trip to Hull from Wakefield (close to m,way at both ends and no hills!) Worst is 12 fooling around town(05 standard CV8)

I was expecting the majority of people to come back around the 300 miles per full-ish tank.

See some of you are getting 200 or under - you guys really are driving the car how it should be driven, fair play!

I remember reading on here of people hitting the 350+ mark, must have been completely motorway miles at reasonable speed then in 6th.

I think for £60 to fill her up I'd be happy with an output of 300 miles per tank.

Of those of you who get 300 or somewhere close, do you have a bit of fun with your right foot as well as some conservative driving to achieve this figure?

Cheers

Jeez - I better go and check I actually have 8 cylinders....

I get between 290 and 360 per tank and fill up with between £40 and £55 with either Waitrose or Tesco Super. Most of my driving is commuting - 32 miles which takes an hour. Interestingly since I switched to a 'faster road' my mpg has gone up rather than through a town.

Also interestingly 100 leptons seems to be a better cruising speed than either 80 or 90 leptons for mpg purposes.

eek I better go and check I don't have 16 then...... In fairness nearly all my driving is around Milton Keynes, which can't be doing fuel consumption any favours. It also does include using it as intende on occasion, as, er, what's the point of not doing that biggrin

I can't see how there is such a huge difference in what people get from their motors.

Obviously any mods and the way an individual drives plays quite a large part.

It seems safe to say anywhere between 250-300 then I'm guessing.

Petrol expands in hot weather,I used to manage petrol stations, and depending on temperature change,it can make quite a difference. In my opinion it is best to fill your car early in the morning, when it has cooled down over night.Example:fill up at the end of a hot day, drive nowhere, and I bet you can get more into the tank the following morning. If your looking for the most miles out of a tank, give it a go.

I think the huge difference is related to traffic. Any jam will kill your fuel consumption! Hence why my commute to work (London) averages around 18mpg, the Civic only used to manage 22mpg for reference.

I used to get 190 miles out of the civic for £48 now I get the same miles but for £59. I think you'll almost certainly get around the same miles per tank as the Civic, you'll just be paying an extra £11 quid, but its worth it!smile
