1st Gear - London to Brighton - This is what happens

A woman rented a Citroen C4 car in London. She drove from London to Brighton. Approximately 220km... In 1st gear!



She thought it was automatic.

Just did a wee check as I had seen this before supposedly rented from Sixt in Budapest with the same "women driving in 1st gear" style of story...

...turns out it was simply the engine going up in flames and not down to anyone driving it stupid miles in 1st gear...

Sorry but I just can't buy that. Surely she must have noticed the smoke as the paint blistered off of the bonnet? Or the excessive noise from the gearbox before it went nuclear.

If it had been left running foot to the floor in neutral all day with no one supervising then yes, but London to Brighton - in first gear?
