Can anyone advise what the headlamp bulb type is on a 206 VXR? (i.e. H1, H4, etc). Had a look through the owner's manual and didn't spot it and I don't want to take one out just to find out!

assume you mean a 2006 VXR in which case you have H9 and H11 - can never remember which is which but the 55w one is the headlight and 65w the main beam and you can use the 65w version as your headlight to improve performance - do a search on here for the details on how to modify them to suit. I've bought mine from an online supplier www.consumabulbs.com in the past as I found them to be the cheapest.

I did it to mine. Best £15/16 I spent, and now can actually see in the dark!

I was wondering which bulb type was dip so I could order up some Xenons. Guy down the road was looking under the bonnet and spotted that it's all written on the headlamps, along the top edge. And he was only taking a look at the engine...

I nearly crashed on the way home tonight on dipped beam. Will the 06 VXR bulbs fit an 06 CV8 ?

Not sure but I can add this:

My headlights were dire, but after being properly adjusted by Greens they were massively improved. In the interim, I had purchased a HID kit, which I've fitted, but tbh they're not massively better than the properly-adjusted standard bulbs. I have previously been vocal in my support of HIDs, not least because on the other car I fitted them to (Fiat Coupe with similar projector lamps) they made a "night & day" difference, but not so much on the Ro.

Sad but true - the HID colour (6000k) does look enormously better than a standard bulb though - not particularly blue or anything, not in the slightest bit "chav", but just a lot more modern.

Hi Wormus,

Yes, the VZ monaros (2005 onwards) all use the H9/H11 bulbs. Still a superb upgrade doing the bulb upgrade.

Cheers
Steven

Hi all

Just did this question a few days ago -- Main beam is H9 65w, Dip is H11 55w,
my research so far establishes that you can fit a main in the dip to increase brightness. Allthough my son has fitted extra bright bulbs to a friends monaro recently which he is going to do to mine also this week so will let you know the result. Allways assuming anybody gives one !

But hey there Vauxhall ( Tossers ) -- Why sell a car that has a useless Dip Beam ??? It is crap ! Its not just below average, its useless, every oncomming car is on your side of the road at night !! and why is the main beam OK ? just to really p--s you off ? Well thats my rant for the day

I do. Interested to hear your post, and then I'll probably be going down the same path.

well xmas holidays got in the way, my son could not be assed, and so on blah blah blah --

so her i am still blind at night, mine is a 53 plated 2004 car, is it still an H9 & H11 combination does anyone know ?

lifted the bonnet up ! decided i would need at least 2 or 3 Jacky d's before continuing, so help please ! ordering the bulbs not a problem, the osram nightbreakers look good unless any of you know differently ?

would a main in the dip be better ? what mod do you have to do and more importantly does this mod require alcohol or drugs to be imbibed before starting ?

should i just sell my ro and buy a car with good lights ?

Helppppppppppppppppppppppp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just done the £15 bulb trick

All fitted OK, only the new H9 bulbs dont seem to lock in the low beam sockets.

Any ideas?

Need a blood transfusion now - not much room to get your hand in.....

you did just trim off the one side of the tab on the bulb? Mine locked in place no problem. As for the cut hands - yeah it helps if you take the battery out or have very small hands.

Yes, I did just as suggested in the pictures. The electrical connector fits fine. The bulbs dont seem to lock into place in the headlight shells?
Any thoughts?

I think the bayonets are not inexactly the same position on the blub, i.e. offset a few degrees from the original bulbs.
