Well thought I would put a call into the local VXR8 dealership here in Newcastle... and diary how things go.

So far, talking to the salesman for the VXR8, may not be able to take it for a demo, because the manager of the place is driving it around, and will have to fit in with him, when I can take it for a demo. It is also automatic and not manual. But would definitely be going for a manual, rather than an automatic.

Also, got the feeling that the aren't interested in taking the monaro as part exchange. Also that may not be able to take the car for a test drive. What I can't understand is that not being really treated at the moment as a genuine buyer, even though I have two holden's currently. Would that not kind of indicate to a dealer that perhaps I am serious about doing a deal?

sounds like the dealer is being a bit of a tool. Can't let you drive it cause he is using it??? Does this place actually know what a customer is?

meh - shop elsewhere, I reckon.

Yeah, it does have me supprised that is for sure, we have just gotten the VXR8 dealership, but we can't let you drive one. Plus I also have to apparently take out my own insurance on it. Mind you lucky with the awesome insurance I have with the Monaro it allows me to drive any car, and also automatically insured in europe, all for just over £500 a year..

Greens and Picador... give me a good trade for the HSV GTS, and the commodore and I'm yours..

Geez you're not going to believe this. Had asked if I could have a look at the VXR8 that is at Bristol Street up here in Newcastle, and well, sorry, you can't because the boss is going to take if for a trip down to the Midlands tomorrow. So I don't expect too many cars to be sold by these guys.

I just find it absolutely stupid, that a dealership can be like that. Pretty crap for customer service that is for sure. The boss obviously likes them so much he doesn't want to sell any of them. I just find that an absolute joke. Bliddy hell man.. <- Geordie input from the Mrs..

Well let em keep it then! Obviously they run the place so they can ponce about in motor's they dont need to sell. They must make a killing on the few they do sell. Already seen enough to spend my hard earned elsewhere, not much so far to build a trusting relationship on.

Have to back that up.

Andy gave me the keys. Came back and said the boss said don't drive it too fast, at least not so he can see you biglaugh

I always like the garages who let me drive on my own for as long as I like. The rest just have no idea - how do they stay in business???

They sell lots of Corsas...

Joking aside, we had this very same problem when dad was looking to buy the Monaro. They looked to us as timewasters, hardly the service you expect when you are about to purchase the most expensive and flagship car in their portfolio.

The dealers that post on here seem to have got it right, and i'm sure this shows in their sales figures. It's just a shame that these guys appear to be in the minority.
