Thanks to all the VXR organisers at Thruxton yesterday, what another great day, got in eight laps in the VXR8 as there was no others waiting, fantastic in the wet.
Nice to meet you BOSS, will catch up another time when there is more time, I hope you had a good afternoon.
Had a good chat to Stuart Harris, thanks for the advise mate what a nice chap, what a small world it is.

Been to Thruxton today myself. Had a great time. The VXR8 is not a bad ol' thing - certainly looks the part with the 20s when in motion (still not convinced). Sadly I drove the Astra and Corsa afterwards and if I were in the market I'd not even go near the '8 - I think I'd want the Astra! Mad.. just love that thing.
Roll on next time. I got the bug!

Andy, hows your R8?. Picador have just done the sport pack with switchable exhaust on mine. Rock on!!. Great sound!. You got the same on yours?
I was at Thruxton this afternoon. Apart from the weather which turned the place into a lake for a couple of hours, it was good. Managed to have a go in the Corsa, Astra, Vectra and R8. It was soaking for the Corsa and Astra runs so I didnt get to really see what the Astra can do....aside from plenty of understeer in the wet. The Vectra was very quick with alot of torque....not sure about all that power through the front wheels!.
Had to laugh at the woman doing the hand brake turn event. She got confused and nearly went straight into the fence rather than pulling the handbrake. Totally over-shot the parking space!. She redeemed herself with a good 2nd run.
Had a good chat with Dougie and Paul from Wortec. Top blokes!

no chance of that. Driving fast through rivers of water aint good for the underwear, let alone doing heel and toe!.
Even with one car in front of me I couldnt see bugger all on the straight after church corner. Thruxton is a good fast track but you have to keep your wits about you especially in the wet.

Maverick,
Picking mine up Friday AM, already had the exhaust done so all they had to do was the switchable bit, cold air intake and the re-map, spoke to Graham this evening he said it was a bit wet today, I think we were lucky yesterday.
Could just hit 130 in the R8 on the fast bit, can't remember it's name though, the Corsa and the Astra's are fantastic fun, down at Brands last week they were far better than the R8, I think because of the size of the circuit.
I managed to win the Autotest at Thruxton which was great as I could only manage third at Brands, they say practice makes perfect so what, my Aussie mate had a ball yet again and is on for a Corsa VXR as he is now staying in the UK for the long term which will suite his english wife and his kids, he is up for a few more Track days as well as me.
Funny thing coming back to work this morning in the little three cylinder Corsa was when the fuel warning light came on I pulled in to fuel it up and could not find how to open the cap, spent a good few mins trying to find it but had to phone up to ask, felt a right dick though, eight cylinders down to three was a bit of a come down.
Can't wait to pick up the R8 and get back to the real thing, love the car but hate the bastard wheels, don't they take some time to clean, Stuart Harris said that EBC do a better pad so when they need new one's will give them a try.
All the best.

Andy, thats cool. You will love the R8. Mine sounds awesome on the loud setting. Pops and bangs! Yee ha.
Not sure where I came in the autotest. Can you remember your time?.
I was 2nd in our autotest group but went back to the circuit for more driving as we lost alot of time early pm due to the rain. Not sure what happened in the autotest. No one revealed the times.
Church corner to brooklands is the time to boot. I got around 125-135 in both the R8 and Vectra. Luckily the track was drying out. Was not fun in the Astra with all that water!
Maybe get your guys on one of our track days?. Airfields are good. Loads of space and good areas to drift the R8 !.
I was talking to Paul (Wortec guru) and he said they are looking into some after market wheels. Worth a look at. I do like the 20's plus lowered too. Nice! Oops, I can feel my wallet getting dented again....
