I'm joining the club
Discussion
Hi,
Thought I'd introduce myself since I'm joining the Monaro club
On Saturday 11/08 I pick up a Silver 2005 Monaro (standard jobby old design without the vented bonnet)from Browns of Loughton, thought I'd go for the NetworkQ peace of mind. My main reluctance in getting the car was the fact that I've got 2 kids (8 month and 3 1/2) but I've managed to convince my wife that getting them into the back isn't too hard.
Previous cars include: Honda Accord Type-R (up for sale in the classifieds), TVR Chimera 4.0l (had to let it go when the kids came), Citreon BX (poor student), Uno Turbo (chipped and great in a straight line), Cavilar CD (nabbed from dad), Fiesta Sport (more rust than metal).
I live in on the border of Watford / St. Albans and if you live local you'll probably see me going up and down the M1 between Harpenden & Edgware.
Anyway thought I'd say hi.
Elliot

Welcome, I am new owner myself for last 6 weeks or so and you will love it. You shouldn't find access for kids a problem (I have a 4 yr old). The main problem is reaching in after them to do the seat belts up.
You are just down the road from me too ... I am between Watford and Hemel. Look out for red 56 reg VXR.

Thanks for warm reception. I really miss having a V8 (Chimera), the Accord Type-R never felt right especially as you have to hit 6,000 revs for the VTEC to cut in and sounds a bit like thrashing a hair dryer, still it served a purpose.
I'm really excited about the Monaro, the test drive was really nice, I was quite surprised how luxurious it felt inside.
Mod wise I'll see how I go, the only thing my wife didn't like about the Chimera was that it woke her up every morning when I left (and 1/2 the road), so I'll need to keep it not too noisy.
First thing I need though is a bluetooth handsfree kit, with probably go for the Parrot one which stream stereo music.
mogv8 I'll keep a look out, where are you planning on getting your's serviced, I'm buying mine from Browns of Loughton, but there's Northern Motors down the road from me (who incidentally have just dropped their price of a monaro 06 they have again).
Thanks
Elliot

No way I will be there at 9:30, got a heavy night Friday night so will be slightly hungover
Most of my mods have been through Greens but most recently used Monkfish. Browns are not a Wortec dealer so they aren't able to do any, shame really it being so close.
They did repair my front bumper/wing/headlight last year though after a stupid Galaxy driver decided to re-arrange it. Couldn't fault their service.

I got the O.E. Holden Bluetooth kit from a fella on ebay, works a treat and comes with the factory dash insertI'm really excited about the Monaro, the test drive was really nice, I was quite surprised how luxurious it felt inside.

I am taking mine back to Picadors for its first service shortly (original supplier) but that is based around a trip down that way so probably doesn't help you much. The local Monaro 'specialist' is Motorbodies at Luton, who seem to have a few fans who post, although I have never used them. If you head up that way for work they may be well located for you though.
