Check out the sound of this new Holden V8 ute....my cousin works for the engineering team at Holden (Australia) and he secretly recorded the testing of the V8's....

Can't wait for this machine to hit the streets.......

Check them out.

Thought you guys might appreciate it http://www.therobertson.com/mp3/SSV%20SINGLE%20REV...

Never really got into the ute but when i was out in Oz[Perth] years back i used to love the Holden Sandmans the surfers drove, loved the colours[sometimes with murals]and the chrome wheels, loved the lazy V8 sound and the rear upper hatch being open allowing a warm breeze to blow through.
They looked cool

That is a coo van!

I love the Utes, Seen a few imported ones. I'd take the HSV Maloo crewcab thank you please! Perfect for carting mountainbikes around in.

Not so good for Tescos, there flipping enormous.

wavey Hi Jono and welcome to PH.

We have a Holden forum here which might get a better response.

Maybe a mod could move it?

Ah the Panel van, cultural icon of 1970s Australia. Very popular with young men, usually customised with loud engine, offensive (to old people) murals of naked women, kitted out with bed and other amenities in the rear, surfboard on the roof. A home away from home and symbol of youthful freedom. Also feared by parents with young daughters everywhere hehe.

Holden did a concept of a more modern Sandman a few years back

Yep just like the one in MM,they were quite common when i was in Oz and the photos dont do them justice, especially on a sunny day with all the chrome glinting away.
Dont like the new ones so much but would love to import one of the originals back to blighty.

Few more pics.

I had an HQ van for a few years in the early 80s, my best mate Jacko was into custom vans and I was going to join in, at the time I also had my race car plus an AH Sprite road car so their was no money or time left to spend on the van.
Then Jacko was killed in an accident in his van so I lost interest and my Dad used it while owner building a house.

Great shot mate, good 'ol Kalbarri.

Sadly I dont have any pics of my HX 253 Panel van. Suffice to say it was a snot box. Sounded faster than it went and the 4-on-the-floor had the unique ability to get stuck in first and reverse at the same time. Brilliant.
