Given all the latest discussions regarding value of secondhand monaro variants.

Can we work out what the depreciation index is for each of the different types of car?

Any members prepared to post what they paid for secondhand Monaros?

Year
Mileage
Colour
Mods
condition
Private/Trade
Area of Country (just in case this affects the index)

Using Autotrader

4 off 04CV8 20-30k miles trade £15k approx
5 off 05CV8 6-20k miles trade and Private £18k - £20k
2 off 05CV8 0-6k miles trade £21k - £22k
4 off 6.0 VXR 12 20k miles trade £20k-£23k
9 off 6.0 VXR 0-10k miles trade £24k-£27k

only a few private cars for sale on autotrader

If you want to know what the value is, then it is what the car was sold for into the dealer, not after mark up.

yep i understand buy is different to sell. I was trying to work out a depreciation index to clarify some of the comments made on the forum. Anything is only worth what someone will pay for it and price is linked to time. In other words advertise a 2 year old Ro for £2k tomorrow and you would sell it straight away --- bargain. But try to sell the same car for £30k and you may not sell it.

Just trying to understand not trying to value my car... i know how much it is worth to me

Big problem with valuing these cars is they dont appear in any of the dealer trade guides, or didnt a couple of months back last time I checked.

Which means the values are set by people in the know who mainly supply them, i.e the main vauxhall dealers and by other garages who happen to come across them who may simply guess the trade value based on what all the other dealers have the cars up for sale at.

As long as the demand is strong the values will stay steady, if and once it drops off then the prices will drop dramatically.

mines a 6.0l vxr on an 07 plate

mileage - 3600
colour - black
mods - standard
cond - as new
bought from dealer - non network Q
area - bought in lancashire although i live in west yorks

bought last month for £25,500 which i thought was a tad on the expensive side but it was the only black one i could find at the time.

in all honesty i think its worth every penny! kinda hoping that as new ones become more scarce that they might start holding their value a bit more, I know its now been replaced by by the vr8 but IMHO the 2 door coupe should be more desireable as it sits closer to the traditional sports car image?
