Very impressed. After twiddling with the suspension it actually handles really well! Enough to stay with local RS4 lads anyhow and Im still learning the car. Nothing outdragged me which was suprising, got matched by some very exoctic looking 997 turbo race/road car, although he demolished me and everything else in the corners! LOL

Got a tom tom speed of 187 on the way back and it was still going strong but the dash went mad with ABS failure and Traction off (I dont have it???) and I bottled it. Reset when we stopped and has been fine since... ideas?

No problems at all apart from the oil temp obviously going through the roof as the tick over pressure when finished was alot lower than normal but it returned to normal after 10 minutes and is as high as ever now. Bigger oil cooler I think is needed.
Didnt time it before anyone asks as that asks for problems but it was comfortably quicker than my old 330ci sport which was sub 10min.

Flashy ABS and TC light happen when a little enthusiastic when TC off. Doughnuts, drifting etc will set it off. Normally few minutes ignition off, then start up and drive couple hundred yards and it all resets itself. Just a warning I guess that you have entered hooligan mode!

Only stopped as the dash flashed up the abs and traction faults so thought I had better slow up. How much you had outa it then Brian?

As far as oil is concerned, what ever Greens put in it.

I've mine out here now in Aachen and should hopefully get some ring time in soon (well when I say soon, it'll be the end of next month before I get the chance due to work hours during the week and DTM this weekend and then Monza for F1 next weekend before heading back to Scotland for the bro's wedding).

I've the video camera mount on the headrest and all waiting for the run too biggrin

How many times have you been to ring? I have just been there for a week and despite a fairly high number of laps I still find the locals irrespective of car are faster than any non local - due to their experience. I was passed by a M3 which had a polo gti all over it - and passed it on the next bend. By chance the supporting race for the DTM's on the following day was the polo gti cup

My vxr was plenty quick enough in straight line but brakes need care round track and dubious insurance cover meant a steady pace.

Been about 8 times over the last few years. My brakes are fine for the ring but I have the Brembo setup and it works a treat. You can go alot faster than you think safe due to the high grip levels and there are only two dodgy braking areas where you need to lift off before hitting a crest then re-brake straight after. If you dont the ABS cuts in and its hello armco! LOL

Some locals are quick but you just go with the flow. I just leave anyone alone who laps under 9minutes!

Could you enlighten me, what is the Brembo set up?

I tend to drive more slowly after rounding a bend and finding a biker on the floor on a previous trip. Just because its a track its still deemed as public road for insurance and legal purposes....

I would say there are way more than two dangerous braking areas, just check the circuit map for ! symbols by way of warning. This was discovered by a Mitubushi Evo at the weekend who felt infallable up to the invetable.

I think people underestimate how valuable circuit knowledge is. Its take at least 20-30 laps to start to understand the curcuit then the same again to know where to turn in and where to go easy. Mind you if it rains you will find me in the Bar only!!

Ive probably done 70-80 laps and wouldnt profess to knowing the circuit accurately yet......

The locals all buy open passes so can do a few hundred per year without trying, the ring taxi driver said he had done 3,000+ laps without incident - which is impressive given their speed
