for Monaro and VXR

I have a 2006 reg monaro though the engine plate says it was manufactured in Feb05.

The handbook (Jan04 edition - is there a later one?) states that the engine is 5667cc and the horsepower and torque figures are 329 and 343 (they’re given in metric but I’ve converted them). The vxr is quoted as 382hp. It also says the dimensions and weights are exactly the same. But Evo magazine gives the following:
V8 5665cc 347/6000 369/4000 1658kg
VXR 5667cc 377/5800 376/4800
6.0VXR 5967cc 398/6000 391/4000 1677kg.

Confused (I am).com only gives two model choices: v8(350) and VXR. And someone on this website has given different figures again.

So which are correct?

P.S. G'day fellow enthusiasts.

My 06 CV8 (manufactured Aug 05)is insured as a "Monaro (333)" which I assume is the reference to its bhp....even though I think it has 350bhp as standard. Confusing indeed.

Talking manufacture dates
04 333 hp (bonnet open and no nostrils) 05 350 hp (bonnet nostrils). Most insurers I have dealt with know the difference 04 VXR 5.7L 05 VXR 6.0l

What's the difference between the 5.7 models, is it due to the exhaust/manifold?

5.7l VXR had different manifolds and map. The facelift 5.7l cv8 with 350hp had different exhaust twin exit. There will be an expert along in a minute to fill in the blanks

Oh, cheers. Does that mean the 05 CV8 has potential to develop more power than an 04 CV8 due to its exhaust?

no more potential - you still need to replace exhaust on both models to get real benefits from tuning as they are too restrictive, headers and sport cats (if you want to stay legal) will also help.

All our cars (6.0) were built in a short time frame around that. The plate might say "06, 56, 07" but they're all late 2004/early 2005 builds.

I've been doing insurance quotes as well - mine had V8, V8(350), VXR and VXR(382) listed on moneysupermarket. It's not easy working it out, but I've yet to have a problem getting it sorted.
