broken door mirror ?

yesterday, some stray cows were licking the Monaro (must be the wax?) and managed to break one of the door mirrors off.
the mirror was hanging by the wire, and a white plastic "cam follower" and a strong spring were lying on the floor. After I had got over the idea of 3 / 4 figure sums to fix, I had a look at what was left , and it all seems designed to do this!
simply putting the spring back in the square "cam follower", putting that assembly back in the mirror and then pushing the mirror carefully and firmly back down onto its stalk, and all seems well. Everything functions fine, and the mirror seems secure.
Not seen this mentioned before, but if it does happen to any of you, esp. on the road, do try to find the white pushrod and spring!!
