Tracker

Have been advised by insurance mobs to have a tracker fitted. Interested to know what members have fitted (and roughly how much, who, where, etc) or any advice on insurance mob that don't reqiure said device.

I had the same request from Tesco Insurance - Changed to elephant.co.uk which was cheaper by £200 and no tracker mentioned!!!

RAC Trackstar - around 500 fitted I believe and then another 500-600 gets you lifetime sub and speed camera database updates for as long as you own the car. Otherwise around 150 a year iirc. Check their website out for more details, fitters etc. Oh and it does work - less than 30secs after my car was lifted onto a transporter to go for repair they were on my mobile asking if it had been stolen as it was moving without use of the keys.

I would recommend one regardless of being told you must have one for insurance purposes.

Same again RAC Trackstar plus with european cover.

I tried elephant online, filled in form, got to a point where they ask for name/model of tracker fitted, if none then they will give quote but without theft protection.
Anyone know of others that don't need a tracker?

I was insured with Elephant and they didn't ask for Tracker, however I think they've tightened their undewriting criteria lately. If you want a response from A-plan call them 01635 874646, I have a Supercharged 06 CV8 and they covered it fine without a Tracker.

btw, the guy who owns the insurance company tesco use as an underwriter also owns tracker...
