Yesterday got a pair of weakish double headlights approaching my rear end with speed, as they got close assumed it was a monaro due to the outline of the car, but he drew close and then under took (oooh!) and gave me the thumbs up and pointed to the V8 badge - He was in an XK Jag.
GM meets JaGUAR and we won. gave him a little blap of Wortec's finest and then let him on his way.
Don;t feel the need to prove myself anymore...!

i can beat that thumbs up, I got two finger v today

was at traffic lights and a kid next to me was in his golf gti. It was an mk3 I think or mk4. Anyway his missus was on the passenger seat and two mates in the back.

My car was me, the missus and the dog - yes the dog. Anyway they look over and want the race, its on and this lesson is going to really embarrass him and his mates.

Lights turn green and I floor it as does he. I pull away and then he misses a gear. We get to the next red lights first and he pulls along side. Not looking best pleased, not surprised.....

..... I was in my smart car! Was so funny to be part of driving
eta his mate gave me the v in disgust, that just made my missus laugh at them even more

Did get a very nice nod, and then nice words from an Audi R8 driver last weekend. He was very humble!

I had a van load of builders in a transit thing pull alongside me the other day.

The three up front clearly looking and talking about the car - then all of a sudden the side sliding door opens and four more in there started waving and giving the thumbs up......

I burnt off from the lights (sort of have to, don't you) only to get about 30yds before getting caught at the next set, so they pulled alongside me again.....still waving!

Bit embarrassing really!

Ok then, which one of you was it then that got pulled over in the Portsmouth area this week racing a Supra? yes it is all over their forum.

Well it goes like this, Supra see's Monaro, Monaro see's Supra and the drag race is on, at 120 leptons a pair of blue lights wants a piece of the action, well they do don't they. Anyway copper pulls both of them, drags them out of there cars and gives them both a verbal spanking. Copper can't go any further as he diddn't have the camera on! ha ha ha

Whoops

Come on own up you naughty boy.

Okay not the Monaro but a few years back I used to have a Morgan Aero 8 when there where only about 30 or so customer cars on the road.

We took it to Le Mans and as we were lining up to get into the circuit there was a mini bus of blokes creeping alongside with about a dozen or so thumps up accompanied by lots of noise, waiving and shouting.

It was a sliding door on the side it opened up and a guy leaned out to explain the reason for all the noise was that he had built my car earlier in the year !!! I thought he was taking the p*ss for a second, then I saw the rental logo on the minibus... sure enough it was from Malvern.

hehe

Wasnt a so much a nod, more over a 'what the hell was that noise look!' from a certain M Schumacher at a hotel last year when my foot slipped on the accelerator and off clutch at the same time!!!

Shamefully, I've been pulled twice for "racing" unmarked police cars (the only two times I've ever done it), once in an MX5 and another time in an MPV. First time was regular plod so let me off with a talking to. Second time was traffic (with video) so they gave me 3 points and a fine for something or other.

Both times I thought about asking them why they were breaking the speed limit with no incident to reach, but wasn't brave enough.

Perhaps I should clean my rear windscreen more often, and buy some rabbits feet.

Well after a week of owning my Monaro, I was sat at some traffic lights in Kingston and these two lads pulled up in their Saxo and I've never had a reaction like it. They couldn't turn down the tunes quick enough, to start hanging out of the car, waving hands, giving it "wicked mate!" and generally drooling! I've never had a reaction quite like it!

Apart from one other time when I was out exploring the South East when I went passed a bike in a layby, driver and pillion just chilling out. 5 minutes later I see a headlight appear in my rear view mirror, it's the same biker and his mate, he slows up sits up, flicks his visor up, starts talking to his pillion passenger and then starts pointing to the car!! Whilst on some "Top Gear" style road! A brief conversation with his mate, visor back down, pulls level, they both give me a nod and then they were outta there.... Top!

Revived this as i like to hear people's stories of appreciation.
My latest one, and probably the most "expensive" so far was today - 2 Carrera S4's in tandem keeping each company, came alongside and got the nod from the lead car.....
worst one was a guy in a battered old golf gave me TWO thumbs up and nearly crashed off the road in the process!

Smiler.

Driving back from Brum on the M40, on & off with a chap in S/C S-Type Jag. All the while, a Kwack ZX12 was also in the rear mirror, just hanging back. Approaching Bicester, the jag made a line for the exit. The ZX12 came past, hand up to his helmet making a listening gesture & than gave a thumb-up. We'd been going for over 30 miles.

I guess only the true UK Holden/HSV fans and Aussies will appreciate why this is the best nod of all... (for the poms when you read GTS below just insert GTS-R)

2 months after I got the GTS Coupe (was the top of the range HSV in Oz at the time) and I was driving home from Melb airport early summer evening window down (of course!) and what looked very HSV ish was coming up past me in the outside lane - it stayed along side me and to my delight it was a shiny new HSV GTS 4 door (I think VY at the time). rego plate was cool - HRT1 or similar from memory - Passenger window on his car comes down and its none other than Mark Skaife (Oz V8 touring car legend and Holden Racing Team/HSV company Owner) who gives me a big smile and a bigger "thumbs up" before heading off in front of me. I was grinning and the envy of all my Holden loving mates for feckin ages - still makes me smile.

settle petal...(I'm referring to you newbie Monkeythrust (I hope you dont!)) no offence intended! If I had a pound for every time I'm referred to on PH as thieving convict scum (which i'm not upset about) then I'd be a rich man. POM is a "luving" aussie term for our founding fathers just like soap dodger, shit cricketer and several others. sorry if it offends you but your prob browsing in the wrong forum if you are going to get offended by cheeky aussie banter - no nasty sentiment intended at all. Read through my sports threads if you want to really get pissed off! Lots of exchanges where I take as good as I get and once again all in good humour

Not sure if this counts as the best nod but perhaps best bod:-

Christmas, just outside Euston Station and stopped at the lights - glance to my left to see a tall blond mouth 'nice car' then she opened her coat to show she had nothing on underneath... Lights changed and I was taken along with the rest of the traffic
