This has probably been covered before,ok lot's of time's but can you actually get an exhaust system for a Monaro that gives the car a deep rumbling sound without being too loud, and no drone on the inside?
I really hate to ask this, (I can't find the page) but can anyboby tell me what type of headlamp and side light bulbs are fitted to a Monaro? 05 face lift cv8.
Phillips have just released a new bulb called Night Breaker, which is 90% uprated, it will be in the shops soon...

Probably Wortec with the centre boxes in? I never fitted mine, they are still in the shed(!)so I suppose that I dont really know. I've had a Wortec on both my CV8 and 6 litre VXR, Whilst I did had a drone at 70ish on the CV8 I haven't got one at all on the VXR. Perhaps fitting the centre boxes will cure that. I did have a buzzing from the interior light lens on the CV8 as well, but a blob of blutack cured that. Stangely, didn't have the buzzing on the VXR.
In respect of the bulbs, the dip beam use H7s if I remember correctly. Replacing the standard ones, which have black end covers, with clear ones makes a world of difference. Consumabulbs (www.consumabulbs.com) give a good service and will sell you a pair for about £15:00.
Hope that helps.

The Milltek on my 6.0 VXR sounds good but no drone. It's a full system rather than a cat-back.

The headlamps on mine have the bulb type marked on them. It's on the top surface and visible when you raise the bonnet.

bulbs are H9 and H11's iirc - do a search on here for the mod to uprate/replace bulbs for improved night driving.

Re: exhausts, would recc the Wortec system with all the boxes, still loud enough to get black flaged on track (over 105db) but not too loud to pass static test at 102db, no m/way issues & like it over a stright through system that I ran for a year or so, now that was LOUD. I don't have any cat's but I don't think that will affect the sound radically. Now waiting for Big Nige to make a quip

Ive heard sound clips of both and prefered the Miltek. Hopefully there will be a few different systems to listen to at the Dyno day.

I'm more interested in performance gains of what is available tbh

the miltek set up is really good - just not sure who there is now to do them. Actually I know that you can buy (and they will fit I am sure) from Thorney motorsport

Drive by without centre boxes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPNxSuNcYHU - Drones like hell at 2,000 RPM but that's down to the VXR bumper apparently.

i had the same drone on my car, I loosened up the rear section bolts and pushed the silencer on a little but more. It brought the mounts in to line nicely too and with a full system inc headers I get no drone at all now. Worth having a look under your car and check teh distance etween the silencer and the bulkhead and then look at the mounts

I bought the car with it fitted and paid no extra. Monkfish reckoned someone shelled out £2K for it.
