Hi there,

Do you mean vertically moving or just up/down/left/right movement ?? The direct gearbox shifter on these cars do cause the gearknob to move around quite a bit and is quite normal (but not vertically as in height wise).

Cheers
Steven

yes i mean virtically not back or forth or laft and right movement all gear boxes have a bit of that movement anyhow ,i was just wondering if the picador mechanic would have released any of the gear box mounts to fit the rip shifter and if so maybe one of them wasnt back in properly ,im probably being paranoid and theres nothing to be concerned about . thanks for any input from ollie

I would worry it sounds like the bolts are not tight. If this is the case it will stress the engine mounts etc. Better get it checked asap. Go to a local friendly garage with a lift or back to Picadors if not too far. I have even used Kwik Fit when they are not too busy and slipped the guy a bit of beer money.

yeah I'd get it checked asap - know that Mark at Rapid lowered the gearbox when fitting my ripshift to get easier access so its possible the same was done with yours and its not been bolted back up properly or the fixings have worked loose.

Yeah, just fitted my Ripper last week, and it's standard practice to drop the rear gearbox mount to get to the bolts.

Think I'd get it checked as I can't say I've noticed mine moving up and down!!!

The box in my CV8 bounces up and down by about 1cm I'd guess.
Just a product of the torque the car produces and the rubber bushing used in the mounts.

They all do it Sir.
