Just bought Sophie a new 1.7D Corsa and have to say its a bit of a slug below 3000rpm (amongst other things, anyone here got one PM me for a mutual grumble)

So looking to pep it up a bit and bring the power curve down to something more useable.

Can anyone recommend a good tuning house in the Surrey/Hants area that can do the biz.

Speak to Roger, I am sure he could drop an LS2 or something in it!

i would look at a DIY plug in box DTUK or tuneit, but if your car is new and has DPF it would be best to go to VXRPC near Roger.

Speak to these guys: www.angeltuning.co.uk/ .Ask to speak to Nigel or Andy, they remapped my old Alfa 159 2.4 diesel with amazing results. They offer a money back guarantee and will return the car to standard if you are at all unhappy (which you won't be). They are also fully mobile and will visit your home or place of work. I cannot recommend them highly enough, they are brilliant and my remap tuner of choice.

I wouldn't touch a plug in box (like a tunit) if my life depended on it. They consist of 50p's worth of crude electronics, you'll get much better results with a decent OBD remap.

dtuk plug in boxes are superb as is their customer support - know pleny people running their kit on the Vauxhall 1.9cdti engines and easy getting 50hp gains over standard. The 1.7 isnt so friendly for tuning though as I understand it so dont expect significant gains. beauty of a plug in like dtuk supply is when its time for service it takes 2 mins to remove so dealer never needs know it was there.

Put some nail varnish remover in the diesel when you fill up next.

...it'll be just as sophisticated as a plug-in box. Sorry, they may give power gains but they are soooo crude compared to a decent remap which will be specific to your car. Most of these things simply increase fuel and boost pressure with little consideration for things like the DPF which can become clogged with excess smoke. Also, a decent remap will cost about £350 and most tuners will reflash the map free of charge should a dealer overwrite it.

Spoke to 888 about it and subject to the ecu type they can help.

Like i said, not looking for power gains as such just a more drivable car as the 1.7 is a real slug under 3000rpm which is really surprising for a diesel

Sounds like a plan, they worked wonders with the 888 Astra which was almost as fast as the VXR version!
