Has the monaro got one of those “fly-by-wire” throttle gizmos?

If so it may explain the kangaroo hopping moments* I seem to get first thing int’ morning.

*well not quite that bad but you get my drift?

The car does hunt at low throttle openings as well, it's transmission slop.

I have an electric throttle and I've found a slightly faster idle helps lots. On fast idle (cold) mine ticks over at about 1000 revs which means it doesn't nearly die when you put your foot down. When warm it returns to about 800 rpm.

It can be adjusted electronically to a certain extent even with cable throttle because the IAC motor can be controlled to open as well as the throttle to make it feel more responsive or vica versa. You can also "port" your throttlebody like here.. http://www.geocities.com/wilwaxu/throttlebody.html
I did mine, made a huge difference... but then I went to a 90mm job smile

It's not much I'll admit but I've driven other cars and they had it too.

AC makes a difference, mine is a lot more stable when it's turned off, (rarely).. It seems to rev a little before settling down usually.

As for the actual 'Response', I've never driven an injected car yet, that hasn't got some initial delay when you blat it. Maybe it's because I'm used to bikes!!

I had looked at a replacement tb but as I'm sticking with the maf I'd need to upgrade the maf and the pipe too by looks of things

Just port yours mate. You will get more response due to more air flowing through at the same pedal position.

I went larger throttle body and mafless and yeah you do need a new pipe which is like 80 quid so why not go the whole hog and get a otrcai while you're at it

tbh I was considering otrcai but I'm not going to ditch the maf. I'd like to know as i'm thinking how did you get yours through the mot ringram. How did you tune the emissions?

maf will have nothing to do with emissions. As its fueled still in closed loop. Its only cold start and under throttle where fueling maf vs mafless comes into it.
For MOT testing both will be the same. cats or not will though. If you spend some time on your tune you might squeek through without cats, but ideally you should fit them for "road" use smile and remove them for "off road" use.
