I need some more noise fron the VXR Monaro. (I'm happy with the power)

Will a cat back exhaust give me that?

Is it essential to have a remap? or will there be any problems?

What is the best price at the moment for cat back?

I assuming Wortec over Miltek?

Dealers in the Hampshire area would be a bonus.

Thanks in advance.

noise with catback - plenty of, Wortec have assorted switchable options that get very expensive very quickly in my opinion. Personally I'd ship a complete system from Oz if I was doing it again and get the sports cats and headers included for the same price as the UK supplied catbacks. Tuning - not necessary but highly recommended. Milltek exhaust on my cv8 sounds fine and pops and rumbles quite nicely but think you'd struggle to get one now anyway - did hear that LSV only actually sold 6 of them in total. Advantage of Milltek is include sport cats and usually slightly cheaper, disadvantage - no switchable option for "loud" mode. Think Mark at RapidGB is doing Oz sourced exhausts now but no idea what his pricing is like on them in comparison to getting one over for yourself and having it fitted. Tuning - 3 options I can see - Monkfish, RapidGB and DIY

found this youtube vid...if this is just a cat back wortec with no other mods its just the sound I would like. Not worried about having a quiet option.

Having just had mine done (VXR) I can assure you that you will be very happy if it is more noise that you are after......

I have the Electric Switchable Wortec one. Two settings, changed by pushing a button on the centre console - 'Loud' and 'Stupid Loud'.

'Loud' is sort of a TVR sound - deep and rumbly.

'Stupid Loud' is the same but with a much harsher rasp to it as well - and probably twice the volume....

Clearly I leave mine on 'Stupid Loud' most of the time - but to be quite honest I do find it a little embarrasing sometimes, so have been known to set it to just 'Loud' (sorry for admitting that in public!!)

I had the remap at the same time so did get a power increase, but the key thing that I noticed was a marked improvement in throttle response. Worth it for that alone.

I'm really, really pleased I had it done.

Just watched the YouTube vid - that might be the 'Loud' not 'SL' version - but what it reminded me of was the fantastic burble and popping on overrun - that is the best bit without doubt.

Well the decision has been made.

It will be a Wortec Cat back (for now)

A couple of questions got raised about the old debate Miltek v Wortec

1) Whats the difference between a Wortec X format Crossover and Miltek?

2) Wortec is 3" whats Miltek? and does it make a difference?

3) One Wortec supplier is able to supply a used Miltek 4,000 mile cat back for £400 fitted (with no guarantee) but said there are issues with the build quality.

4)The Milltek can rub against the prop donut and are a poor fit

Generally these unanswered questions and statements have put me off of Miltek.

The price difference new is Wortec (£1150) v Miltek (£850) both fitted and inc

Miltek moved on their price Wortec won't (that in itself nearly put me off)

But hope to get it fitted Monday

not seen any build quality issues on my miltek and for 400 you should take a look at it

as wells said, doing it again I'd save myself a ing fortune and headaches and do it myself and tune it myself

I'm looking at the full 3" Di Fillipo with ceramic coated headers to bolt to my other mods. Waiting on a final shipped price at the moment so will have a 2.5" Miltek for sale soon. Again had no problems with mine and V6 JDT is much the same, so thats 3 of the 6 LSV installed apparently with no problems. At 400 quid I'd bite their hand off and get the welds checked for any "build issues" then fit for 7-8 years trouble free use. Wouldn't change mine if I wasn't needing the extra capacity the 3" will give me.

I have a wortec system and am more than happy with that, however £400 for a miltec could convince me for the latter. On selling my retuned CV8, I took my wortec off and put the original back on - still seemed to work OK. Decision is yours, but price seems more than good.

Dual 2.5" is good for just over 500fwhp, which is basically standard boost sc or a good head/cam combo.
Higher boost 9psi plus and hardcore heads/cam or stroker and you are better off with dual 3" which I think is good for over 700fwhp.
Rule of thumb is 2.2cfm per bhp and 1sq inch of exhaust will flow 115cfm IIRC.
Details are here http://www.popularhotrodding.com/enginemasters/art...
Of course the nice thing is an exhaust with good power will usually sound good too.
If you just want sound change the mufflers for cherry bombs or equiv.

Where the early Wortec's 2.5" ?

When we seen them on a car, that was what put my friend off, and he bought a 3" DiFillipo instead.
