had my car a couple of months now and i thought id report how i am findin it

firstly im lovin it, a real joy to drive, no issues with handeling or power, the only problems i am finding with it now are that i am getting paint flakeing away of the edge of the bottom part of the edge of the rear bumper where it meets with the rear tyre on the drivers side, leaving a nasty white patch about 4 to 5 inchs long now, i know this part of the body work is gonna get stuff kicked up from the tyres but you dont expect this after doing less than 2500 miles! another problem ive noticed is that since the first frost the other day i noticed what looked like a scratch on the windscreen about 2 inches long but it was in the inside when i had a good look, when i got it checked by someone who works with windscreens i know, he said its a fault in the laminate of the glass, and the hard frost probably caused it, which i dont like the sound of, he told me to take it back to the garage so il be getting in touch with where i got it from tommorow to tell them i want things sorted, because until i noticed these issues ive been a real happy owner, and i just dont want these things to spoil the experiance.

any one else had any probelm with there vxr8 yet, it be interesting to hear what you lot think?

Had mine for 4 months now and love it.

I've had 2 minor probs, windscreen fluid bottle would not hold any liquid and it was kangarooing at around 1500 revs. The first prob has been fixed(took 3 hours) the second seems to have disappeared so could of been dodgy fuel.

The car is a joy to drive and am looking forward to adding to the pleasure when I get some modifications done probably next summer.

3 weeks in and loving it, on the condensation thing of the 3 gauges, I've not had that but have had the CD rejected as it was soaked with condensation/water, quick wipe and it was going a treat

I still haven't wiped the smail off my face. I had an 04 CV8 before and the difference is night and day. Performance, handling, brakes, all so much better. Although I'd like to drive a VXR to get a true "HSV" derived comparison.

Only issues so far are:
1/ a small amount of clutch judder on initial bite when setting off from rest. The dealer couldn't sort this but as it's not getting any worse and only happens on occasion then I'm not stressing over it
2/ a washer bottle that empties itself every 2 weeks
3/ something that sounds like a marble rolling around in the rear nearside door.

My car has a Wortec electrically switchable exhaust on it, which for 97% of the time is hilarious. But for 3% of the time I find it a touch too noisey on the quiet setting - there's not a major differnce between loud and quite from within the car. And the noise sets off a resonance buzz in the dashboard at 2000 rpm that does get on my nerves.

But all these are very minor issues. I unearthed some photo's of my old CV8 the other day and my wife asked me if I missed it. Nope - not at all (well perhaps the better built interior just a little).

Ditto. I too took it back and the dealer confirmed the noise but nothing wrong. Again, as long as it doesn't get worse then I'm happy.
I also had a rattly noise on idle with the clutch engaged - the dealer showed me a service bulletin that said this was normal.

Hmm - not had that one (fingers crossed)

Or that.

I have the dashboard "tizz" and I've got the walkshaw exhaust. I think it's the centre console with the three pod gauges. A good thump seems to fix it

Yeah - I just can't figure where it's coming from - but certainly the pod is a suspect. Took PCV8 out in it the other weekend and both of us narrowed it to that area but couldn't find it precisely. Still, I'll take your advice and give it a good leathering - see if that works.

I get that buzzin noise at low revs to, i located it to the bit of plastic paneling roung the gear stick on mine, a whack can cure it for a bit, i have the walkinshaw 115 dB system on mine which is very loud even against the standered 90 db one, not heard a wortec one yet but i can imagine thats real loud to, so most of the time i can barely hear the buzz, but it comes and goes anyway and the stereo can drown it out. On the windscreen front they are going to have to replace it which is a bit of a shit, ive only had it 3 moths now, but it has to be done i suppose, and i will be making sure they do it properly as well.

Hi Tiler - can't stop watching that video... I love the second half at the show.....

One minute no one around - press the loud pedal a few times, next minute you can't see the car for people!!

Have you done the headers as well as the exhaust?

Use the 3in1 spray oil in the gaps and edges that touch. use the little tube that the can comes with. Its the only thing ive found that works long term as WD40 dries out and a thump just temp moves things about. Dont go OTT and after a quick wipe off the squeek or rattle normally goes... yes

Got the VXR8 3 days ago, AWESOME! Cant stay away from it.Looks fantastic, goes like stink and with the Wilkinshaw exhaust it sounds incredable. So glad i went with the manual, drove the auto and was'nt sure but love the manual. Great the way you can empty it in every gear or hang on too a high gear at 1500 rpm and just cruise.
Have to agree with most on here about the dealers. Had to educate them about the car. Asked them to straighten the exhausts comeing out the back [they were both tilted]but had to do that myself when i got it home. No matter, love the thing and hope to have many reliable and fun miles in it.
