How far do you travel for your servicing?

Just wondering how far people travel to get their ro's serviced, as in the past when I lived in Ireland I did the easy option to order the parts myself from an authorised dealer, get the ok from the regional manager for the local VX garage to do the service and hey presto...
This past weekend saw me drive across 5 countries to get the latest service done, leaving Germany at 1am on Saturday morning and heading through Germany, Holland, Belgium, France and hopping on the ferry from Calais to Dover (for a smashing price of 40 squid I may add - it's poo not having a pound key on this German keyboard
) then driving from there up to Holborough. It was -6oC when I left Aachen and was even hovering around freezing in England too so I was in best behaviour mode most of the way to Greens as the road was damn slidey in places and had I got a little carried away it would have been a scrapper and not a service that was needed. The guys were top notch and turned the car around in jig time allowing me to get back down to Dover 4hours ahead of my booked ferry time (as I left plenty of leeway incase of any issues with the service or traffic to and from)...

How much of the 10 000 service interval did you use actually getting the service?
It wasn't all that bad as it was just shy of 400km to Calais and then just the short run from Dover to Holborough, so realistically if any of the Scottish lads were to travel to Greens or other dealership that far south then they would probably travel about the same distance...the car was on around 19,200 before I set off on my travels and only hit the 20k marker as I was just past the Brussels ring road on my way home again...How much of the 10 000 service interval did you use actually getting the service?

I managed to get a flash on the way back up through Belgium post-service, the worst thing was I was only doing 122kmph in a 120 limit, so here's hoping they aint going to be that strict and send me out a nice xmas card with my picture on it - they are getting worse and worse these days, every time I travel down to IMEC in Leuven with work during the day I'm sure to pass at least one radar or hairdrier out to play if not more

About 4 miles to a franchised Vauxhall dealer who is renowned on here as one of the principal Monaro dealers - just don't ask them to fight your corner in warranty issues though 
That's not 100% fair - they got my bootlid resprayed where the spoiler wore the paint, but weren't fantastically helpful on a far bigger issue. Not a dealer who instils confidence or obviously attracts repeat business, other than by default and through lack of alternatives to their "specialist" status.

I have to come back from Amsterdam to get mine serviced, about 540 miles there and back. I thought I had the only Monaro in mainland Europe, maybe I'll get to do a spotted post one day 
I've been flashed a few times in Belgium too, and by the new fixed camera near Calais, touch wood nothing has come back yet. I'm always amazed how the Belgian police manage to get a car in the central reservation to set up a speed trap, you can't see them til the last second
and then its usually too late.

I know what you mean about getting their patrol car into the central reservation - last thing I'd be trying to do with crazy brits thinking their still on a german autobahn heading home
