Hi,

Following the death of an old bavarian friend, i've become the proud owner of '06 Monaro VXR.

Unfortunately as a second car its too 'practical' and some modifications are in order.

So for starters what is the concensus on the best SS full exhaust system and suspension package? Are the Wortec packages the best bet?

Hello again and thanks for any advice.

most of the guys on here have Wortec stuff fitted and are delighted with it. If you're a bit more adventurous and fancy saving a few quid I'd hit the US and Australian sites for info on other options. Couple of the dealers on here use these foreign suppliers for their kit. Really only 3-4 specialist garages/tuners over here and of those Mark @ RapidGB and Roger @ Monkfish are generally regarded as the best in the business. As far as official Vauxhall dealers go then Greens of Rainham are highly regarded by many on here. If you fancy doing your own tuning work then speak to Richard Ingram (ringram) on here as he is the official reseller for the EFILive tuning kits, very helpful and excellent pre and after sales support (that's another fiver he owes me )

edit: oh and hello and welcome to the forum - very rude of me to forget.

Hello & welcome, as it goes I'm looking at exhaust options too, to get that proper V8 rumble going.
I got a quote from Longlife Exhausts for a custom S/S system, which was a pretty good price (much less than the Wortec option) - I believe some others on here have it too. I'd also be interested in alternatives, as I'm not really looking for big power increases with remaps etc, just releasing the noise!
They are practical cars, as well as being beasts, which is what makes them special in my book! Mine is my only car, I use it for commuting daily and for blasts out in the country whenever possible, it fits the job perfectly!

Try these guys if you want to import your own and I'd consider going for the full set including stainless headers and sports cats. Whole system could cost less than the Wortec cat back exhaust on its own. Remember though and allow the cost of fitting - headers take around 4hrs labour. If there was enough interest perhaps a group buy through one of the tuners could be negotiated to include fitting but split the carriage costs. Guess it would depend on how tied they were to one supplier. If going for the headers as well you'd probably want to arrange a remap at the same time.

Cheers all,
The Darren and Filippo site doesn't seem to have a system listed for the Gen 4 LS2.
May well consider importing given the exchange rate at the mo, even though i've been stung in the past with import duty.

I definately want the full system with cats. Needs to be MOT proof. Fed up of having to change pipes over on previous cars (even though only once a year).
Preferably 105db track proof too (which made the switchable Wortec kit look tempting). Though not too quiet biggrin

This is correct, they seem pretty good quality too.

Thanks again.

Are headers on these much grief to change? Does the engine need rocking to make room or do they slip right out?

They don't exactly slip right out - nothing ever does!

When I fitted my DiFillipo's the engine didn't need rocking, but we had to drop the steering rack to help clear the column while fitting. You'll probably have to relocate the clutch line bracket as well (I did).

...perhaps an extreme statement, slip out (ie. with gentle persuasion by breaker bar) was probably more what meant.

Sounds easier then some at least biggrin

What are the DeFillipo headers etc like quality and sound wise?

Quality is good. I'm pleased with mine. Running on just the headers sounds great
