Hi all, I just wanted to introduce myself, and say hi........

I've been reading the posts over the last few days with interest, as today I picked up my first Monaro!!!! I drove around 80 miles back from the dealer, and all I can say is OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just went for a spin around town and floored it a couple of times. I almost shit myself.

I think I'm going to need some track time to get familiar with it, so that I'm not a danger to stationery vehicles and brick walls in my local area!! It's a BEAST! And my legs are still a bit jellyish!!

Anyway, I've been driving around for a while in a new shape 5 series Beamer. I loved the comfort factor, but wanted something I could 'drive', rather than just sit in and watch tarmac go by whilst picking my nose, wishing I had some more horses. After watching an old Top Gear repeat, I fell in love with the Monaro, and here I am.

Cheers

Congrats on joining the Grin Brigade.
Unless the Chavs have been getting rid of spare badges, best to change Volkswagen in your profile to Vauxhall.
It was bad enough having a parking attendant describing my Ro as a Mondeo shoot

Thanks for the welcome everybody.

The ro is a basic CV8 model, '05 with 14k on the clock. I'm already planning the endless money pit of mods!!! She's a keeper though, I can tell you that!!!

After a quick spin the other night in slightly damp conditions, the ro put me in my place pretty quick! Needless to say, the respect levels for the ro went up 150% as the brown stuff trickled down my leg!! You supercharged guys must have balls the size of a planet!!!

Anyway, I'm in Manchester (insert sarcasm here), but have never seen a ro in this neck of the woods!! Anyone local?

Cheers

Welcome, glad you're enjoying your new toy. The CV8 is a great car and tends to get overshadowed by the VXR. At the end of the day you've made a great choice but I doubt your bank manager will be thanking you in the coming months/years!

Btw, where did you it from - Slaters by any chance?

Nope, not mine.

Had to pay a couple of visits with my Corsa over the past few weeks, so when waiting about, I wandered about the forecourt and had a look at the CV8's there to compare prices etc.

Which one did you get? There was black, Silver and Yellow about a week ago.

I only live a mile away from there. Most of us CV8 owners have succombed to the modding madness(small list of mods in my cars profile). Only need a s/c and AVO suspension now..

I got the silver one. The black one was gone. The yellow one had higher miles on than I wanted.

I went to a lovely pub for a meal while I was there, somewhere on top of a hill near a school. It was VERY nice! And the place is too.

I'm looking at doing the exhaust first I think, wortec, though not sure about the re-map due to cost...

Think most guys would agree that the essential first step is exhaust and remap... better response, torque, sound...
You really WILL be grinning then!

Yeh, that's definately going to be the first mod I do.....Well, second actually, I ordered some Holden badges. Thought I'd start with the low cost stuff.

Hmmm, yes, you do need to keep your wits about you! You soon learn how to drive sideways
