VXR8 Super Charger
Discussion
Hi
Just running our latest demonstrator with the WP Supercharger and a diferent clutch capable of taking 800Nm of torque. All feels fine and it is too early to comment on the economy but it seems only a shade worse than standard. The car is very quick and in this weather I leave the traction control and ESP switched on. This makes me a girl I guess, but Todd Kelly (Super V8 Race Driver) has driven around the Holden Ride and Handling track with and without ESP and got the same lap time. The VXR8 ESP and traction control was tuned to help rather than pull all the torque out as on the earlier VZ cars.
A very merry Christmas from all at WP.
Phil.

On this car referred to, it is a 112 plus intercooler, injectors, plugs, and WP Map. Same spec as recently tested by Autocar and Evo, ecept for a semi noisy exhaust. I am also running 6 Piston brakes/ hard pads and braded lines which give a good bite and a noticably firmer pedal.

I have WP supercharger fitted from new with sports exhaust (single large oval pipe each side). Slightly off thread I know but are there two types of WP exhaust as mine is very quiet compared to other VXR*'s I've heard? Other than the look of the pipes it isn't that different to standard. Work was done from new and car delivered in September. would be interested in your comments.
re economy, dione 1600 miles so far, 7 mile each way commute in currently 18.5mpg, sensible run on motorway 22/23. Its an auto

There are two levels of exhaust. No bi-modal on offer currently. Interestingly I am running the Semi Noisy assembly and it is plenty loud enough for me and my neighbours comment on the noise. However the full noisy exhaust has been rejected by some customers and enjoyed by others. It's a matter of taste.

Phil, are WP planning to offer upgrades on Monaros or just VXR8's? Think I know the answer, just curiarse!Phil.
Right then, I'm considering the WP blower for my VXR8, currently it has the loud V8 supercar cat-back and the remap from WPP, it's only done 2000 miles and was recently dyno'd but made a disappointing 320 at the wheels, 395 at the flywheel, can post the graphs if interested (also it's an auto).
What questions should I be asking? What advice do I need? All I can think to ask is can the auto box handle the extra torque? my gut feeling is it will.
I'm also a bit concerned about the oil, seems to get very hot, I've seen it at 135 and that worries me, should I have it changed and what should replace it?

We haven't offered Monaro parts but we can do special orders. The parts and maps have to come from WP Australia or HSV, as we are unsure of the demand, so we don't carry stock. No middle men but I do like to make a bob or two to fill the fuel tank.

Slightly O/T...Phil.
But the Bilstein kit you list on the website. Isnt £1700 for a non adjustable kit a little pricey ? Even with almost £300 off the price ? ( how much for supply only ? )
I assume this is regular shocks/springs/struts, given it is non-adjustable ? Are the shocks adjustable ?
What sort of warranty is with them ?
The Bilstein spring and damper package consists of new strut inserts and coils at the front and coil over springs and dampers at the rear. The set up was developed in Australia and sets the car very low. It's expensive because the dampers are Bilstein. Normal supplier warranty would apply of one year. On the VXR8 package, the dampers have 15 settings front and rear and can be tuned for track or road.
