Hi All,

Apologies for asking such a boring, non performance related question read

Have been considering a Monaro for some time as a family wagon and I have a quick query about the rear seats.

Are the seats set up for just two rear passengers or are they a full bench style that would fit 3 ?

Also how are the rear seat belts configured, is it 3 x full 3 point belts or 2 x 3 point and one lap belt in the middle ?

With the family expanding I'm changing our runabout and really need something with 3 x full 3 point seat belts (and ideally a really big V8) biggrin

Thanks in advance for your help.

They can fit 3 across pretty easy and leg room is fairly good.
But if ease of use is a concern check out the vxr8 smile
centre lap belt like you say

eh? I am sure every Monaro I have looked at has in effect 2 bucket rear seats? Redbook confirms 4 seater only, surely they didnt change that for England?

Thanks Ringram,

Thought the rear seat looked big enough.
It was the seat belts that was the main concern as I really need 3 x 3 point belts in the back.

I need to think about some clever modification to get another 3 point in there to be able to use one of these beauties as our family wagon.

I have to agree - 2 + 2 only I'm afraid, albeit the 2 in the back have loads of space.....

yep, 2+2 bucket seats. The bit seperating them is not a seat - it's made of cardboard or something & has no belt. On the plus side, rear leg room is generous even for adults.

Blast !!

That scuppers my plans for a Monaro for the family car, definitely need 3 across the back with proper belts.

Is the VXR8 the same ?

You could always go for a Holden GTS - 4 door saloon with chevvy V8...usually a few in classifieds

Sorry my bad frown
I knew vxr8 was 3, but didnt realise they were all 3 pointers.
Can confirm the older gts takes 3 as well. But IMO you might as well get a vxr8 as you will find getting in and out of the back a hassle if used regularly.
The seats move very slow on the older ones, I think they speed it up a bit on the newer monaro, but am not sure.
Older GTS model's are coming up 10 years old now. Better to pay a bit more for a newer sedan.

All the HSV's (GTS, GTS-R and VXR8)sold in UK are 4 door, 5 seat config with 3 seatbelts in back. Monaros CV8 and VXR have only 2 seats and 2 belts in back.

Yeah I might get this one right. Centre lap belt.
At least mine had. Takes 3 ok. No cardboard, proper seat cushion smile
Shed loads of room everywhere and a proper boot with no fuel tank taking up all the space.

Recent ill health & no job have forced my hand, I am not too happy about this which will be my understatement of the year!
