fuel consumption today

Hi All,

I had to go over to Beverley (near Hull) today to see a customer. Before setting off back to Manchester, I zero'd the computer and filled up with 97 ron fuel. I wanted to see what MPG I'd get on a mixed journey, driving in a 'normal' mannor. I also had to stop off in the centre of Leeds on the way back, but all in all, the return leg was 102 miles, with an average fuel consumption of 25.4mpg. I drove around 80-85 on the motorway, and wasn't too heavy on the accelerator at any point. Needless to say, I'm bloody pleased with that!!

Seems very good indeed. Zero'd the trip on the S80 3.2 tonight for a 70 mile dual carriageway trip, set the cruise at 70 for the entire journey and it averaged 28.4mpg which is pretty bad, makes a V8 look economical!

Assuming of course you mean 80-85 leptons as admitting on a public forum to doing say 80-85mph on a public highway could leave you open to prosecution should the wrong person read such a post.
