Hi All,

I will be putting my car up for sale very soon - new job and a house move immanent. I have looked on Autotrader, eBay and Parkers but before pricing the car I wanted your folks opinions.

It is a 2004 CV8 in Impulse Blue. Has 55,000 miles. I am the second owner and it has been looked after by Monkfish.

It has:

*Wortec Focus Pack, with interchangeable exhaust silencers
*VXR brakes with Performance pads
*19" Envy wheels

I know I won't get the money back on add ons but they have to be worth 20% of the retail value if I were to leave them on the car. By my trawling, this would mean a price in the mid high 13k bracket. Do you think this is too high/low or just about right?

Look forward to hearing your opinions.

Cheers,

Mark

Well I better say Happy Christmas now! Happy Christmas.

It is like everything in life if you really want to sell it fast, then 10K, if you can afford to hang on and see what comes along to buy, then go for full retail.

Just had a look on here and as you can see there are a number up for sale, and those that pitch the price to high are still stuck with the car after 56 days.

If you still have all the original equipment and can do it yourself then swap it all over and sell the bits on e-bay. I do honestly think that a sports exhaust and chip and a set of aftermarket wheels left on the car might just help to sell it, but adding 20% to the value.............never, and lets face it, what is a couple of grand these days??

Well good luck with the sale, and the new job, and maybe in a couple of years you might be able to buy the beast back again for a bargin knock down price.

A merry Christmas to you too my friend.

I think you misunderstand - I was trying to say 20% of the value of the mods - not adding 20% to the value of the car. Mods cost rougly 4,500 so must be able to get 900 (20% of the 4,500) more than a standard car.

And no, I do not have the enthusiasm to strip it.

And as for the couple of grand comment - I am affraid I am not in a position to be as blasé as your good self. Two grand is two grand - it buys a lot.

It's a given that you don't get your money back on mods, but I'm sure they help shift a Monaro. Certainly most folk will want to do an exhaust, and your one has that.

I think 13K is the right area. I wouldn't put one up for less if it was me selling it. Do a good write up and use decent pics wherever you advertise it. I'm presuming full service history and lots of lovely paperwork.

Car now sold.

Fluffsri drove off up the road about half an hour ago - hurts watching them go doesn't it.

Take good care of her Keith and if she brings you half as much enjoyment as she did me mate, you have many months of grinning in front of you.
