Speaker Recomendations
Discussion
Having stripped the inside rear of my car to remove the rear qtr glass I may as well upgrade the rubbish fitted as speakers. Anyone recomend a decent upgrade to the ones behind the cards below the rear qtr glass. Also what size fits? 6" or 6.5" or both. Had a chat at halfords (cos I can walk there) and came away thinking I know more than the idiot serving me! Remember thwir 2ohm as well.
I have Infinity reference series component speakers - front and rear. The fronts have seperate bass/mid units in the base of the doors with remote tweeters on top of the door cards. Seperate cross-over units mounted in the doors. The units in the rear are full range units and I've kept the standard fit sub-woofer in use powering the rear shelf speakers. Speakers fitted in with few problems, screw holes had to be re-drilled and the connectors changed. Standard (non-rds...) head unit changed way back for a Kenwood unit before changing the speakers and that alone gave a good improvement in the sound quality. With the speakers in also I'm very pleased with the results, just need to quieten my exhaust down a bit so I can hear it properly
I have similar setup to 'GSE' above - Infinity Reference front and rear, but I have relocated rear 1/4panel speakers to rear deck, fitted 2 x 250watt subs (6.5" Elemental Designs) to each side rear 1/4panels powered by 250w Infinity Reference amp - original amp and subs removed. Head unit replaced by Blaupunkt DAB unit. Also have 250Gb hard drive MP3 player system integrated into above - NO
