rear spoiler light
Discussion
as i think i've given up relying on a certain garage to do what i ask them, can anyone tell me if replacing that strip of LED's on the boot spoiler on a monaro vxr is as simple as undoing the two screws, pulling the wires out carefully to get to the connector and then fitting the new light ?
did this at the weekend and it's actually a lot easier than i thought and removing the spoiler isn't in fact necessary.
just used a small claw hammer to remove all the clips (without damaging them) took about 5 minutes
having pulled a fair amount of the old cable back through from the old light to the outside, i taped the new lead to the old one and carefully pulled it back through.
no messing about undoing bolts etc and took about 5 minutes to do. obviously make sure you've run the new lead through the new rubber seal first and the grommet on the inside or it could be annoying !!
i had to cut the connector off the old cable and leave a short amount of cable in place and carefully splice it back onto the new cable as helpfully they don't provide you with the connector in the kit.
i'm sure the vauxhall garage I initially went to would have spent 4 hours doing this and had to remove the boot to accomplish it as well
anyway in case anyone else was thinking of changing their water feature / rear led brake light thing, that's how to do it

Is the whole LED strip supposed to light up - mine only lights up in the middle of the strip?
Do I need a new one ?
Is it covered under warranty ?

Yes it is under warranty but Vauxhall have had one on order for me for over 4 months. They tell me the company that make them has gone bust and they need to find someone else to make this part before i get a new one. I think that sound like a load of B******S and that was from Vauxhall customer services and not the dealers blag, but i keep calling Vauxhall and chasing them.
i ordered one before christmas and after waiting a month or so drove a fair distance to the dealer i ordered it from for them to fit it only to be told they had the wrong part!! they got me the correct part next day however (which makes me think the orginal delay was down to them ordering some random incorrect part!) as they said vauxhall had loads in stock !! this was about a month ago.
