Interesting. Stock power? Or do you have something extra there?
If you have more power and the stock clutch then Id say you might need to upgrade.

Otherwise it might pay to get it checked out in case the hydrolics need attention/bleeding etc.

Check your clutch fluid for black gunk - if you have some in the header tank, then you've boiled your clutch fluid.

Happened in my Ro, similar symptoms. Clutch fluid replacement £50 (change to uprated fluid at same time).

The clutch fluid goes black over time on these cars anyway. It seems to be due to the slave cylinder on the LS/T56 setups ( and Vipers etc )

Never had any issues with th std clutch running up to 500+. It MAY have had a hard life at the hands of a less than mechanically sympathetic sales manager!! If the car was purchased through Network Q then the clutch is covered under the guarantee!!

its not the clutch it self its a fluid problem eg boiling up .will swap it for 5.1 fluid and see how it go's.

Why is it then that when NetworkQ came round to inspect my knackered clutch they said they weren't going to cover it? Apparently, it was 'unusual wear'... really? That's probably why it wasn't working properly. I had to get Stu involved in the end (clutch swapped out by Vauxhall HQ with no quibbles - excellent service from them - shi'ite from NetworkQ).

NetworkQ only cover clutches pressed by vicars who only run it 1 mile to church every Sunday..... It's an insurance policy in the end, run for a profit, weighted heavily in favour of NetworkQ.

Can you tell that I wasn't that impressed with the NetworkQ experience?

rofl Oh I know that argument. My local specialist dealer asked me about a dozen times "what kind of car is it". Each time I said "it's a VXR8" I was asked again "yes, but what kind of car is it". Eventually the nugget had to potter off and talk to someone who actually had a clue.

Also started to leave oil spots on my drive
had a look under the car and looks like its leaking from the gear box bell housing so looks like the crank shaft oil seal as gone.
booked in on monday so dont think i will be seeing her for a few weeks and probably have a corsa to look cool in for a month. mad

With your problem posted above, driveway spots of oil are possibly blackened clutch fluid. The slave cylinder is an anular ring around the spigot shaft within the bell-housing.

Maybe the breather pipe issue. Some cars have gearbox fluid forced out through breather pipe when 'pushing on'. Results in gearbox oil on drive and bottom of gearbox/bell housing (maybe a fine smoke behind car when on a runway at 120+).

However, if it has been too pressurised it may have blown the input shaft seal which will force gerabox oil into the bell housing and this will drip out of bottom of bell housing. This has been misdiagnosed by some dealers as main crank seal failure, we find best to diagnose is to put endoscope inside bell housing to ascertain the location of the leak without removing gearbox.

One other area to have shown weakness is the sump gasket which has been seen to weep on some cars. Good luck.

Caspy one for you!

Has there been a modification to improve the breather arrangement inline with some of the issues or is there a check dealers can do to avoid it happening?

Are the issues associated with any particuar type of gearbox ie manual/automatic or is has both types been affected?

Thanks in advance

We have been promised a solution for some time now, and would hope that revised breather pipes are issued soon, however if other damage has already occured (broken seal etc) then fluid will still leak.

And does it affect manual and automatic or just manual?

i am surprised that there may be an issue given the length of time this car has ben around now. Surely a fix would have been sorted by now!
