04 CV8 BHP question....
Discussion
If a standard CV8 is rated as having 328 BHP (Parkers guide) and say your car was down by 5% on that figure leaving say 310bhp.
What is the average bhp gain by taking the essential (tune only) pack?
Could you say for 100% certainty that it would increase the bhp to over 349, thats a 39 bhp rise?
Or to ensure that you get 40 or more BHP would you need to go for the Sport pack?
Sorry, it was a little badly worded.
Say my 04 CV8 has been dyno'd as having 310bhp ( a few % down on manufacturer's listed figure). I want to get it to 350bhp.
Would having the essential pack guarantee it made 350bhp or would I need the sports pack to ensure it made the 350+ i.e Does the essential pack always add over 40bhp?

Dont get too caught up with dyno numbers. If you do, then chances are you may never be happy until you go to a dodgy rolling road that only reads high numbers.
And if its low, and the RR operator tries to sell you stuff to "fix" the car..Id also be cautious.
And then there is the age old argument about guesstimated flywheel figures, or the better wheel figures.
Wheel figures being the preferred numbers IMO, until you can take it a proper engine dyno...which is unlikely to happen for most.

Its not that I'M so hung up on the numbers, but this is resolve an issue with a dealer who incorrectly advertised an 04 CV8 as being a 354PS model. I'm trying to establish which pack needs to be installed to make good the deal?
My argument is that if I've paid money expecting 354PS, which for some will be one of the main resons for purchasing the car, I want to know thats what I'm getting. The dealers can't have it both ways, they use the PS figure to hook in potential customers, what other reason could they possibly have for putting in their advert titles in brackets.
Thats why i'm keen to know which pack will make the required increase. Hence why i'm asking those who may have dyn'd their cars after having each pack, as we all know cars dont always make the manufacturers quoted figures, so the starting point might be somewhat lower.

I would recommend (if you can swing it) the catback system and remap. Got to be one of the best value improvements to the 04 CV8. Much better sound, torquier and more responsive, and gives you proper use of 6th gear. Chance are you'll end up going that way eventually anyway so if you can negotiate that as your deal you won't be disappointed IMO.
