I am a recent 05 CV8 owner, and I am really enjoying it, but the dealer I bought it from has been unable to supply an owner’s manual or a stereo manual. He says ‘Oh they mostly never had them from new, and when we try to order them from Vauxhall they never appear’.

It was very helpful to find a link to a pdf manual on this forum (see http://vauxhall.co.uk/vx/static/content/pdf/owners... but this is for the 04 model, and over the last few weeks I have become aware of a number of key differences between my car and the manual (e.g. my car has an unusual dipstick arrangement to check the coolant level, whilst the manual has a conventional plastic reservoir on show under the bonnet).

Does anyone know of a link to an 05 CV8 owner’s manual? Or has anyone had any success ordering an owners manual from Vauxhall or Holden?

Thanks

rocket

Thanks for the 'heads up'!
It doesn't say which model it is for. I will ask him.

Good point. I'll take a look at my manual and see if the pic on the front has the bonnet vents....that might be an indication.

Hi,

I beelieve the owners manual is the same on both CV8s. Computer etc does not change nor did 99% of the interior, tyres etc same pressures etc.

Cheers

Steven,
Yes you are right that most things are the same, but I am also discovering a number of differences e.g. extra battery and oil gauges inside, differences in layout of stuff under the bonnet - it took me a while to figure out how to check the coolant level!
I am wondering what else I will discover as time goes on, and it would be nice to be able to be able to read a manual that actually matches the car!
Regards
Steve

PS - I am one of those strange people that actually like reading manuals. I can't help it, but there it is.

Hello again,

Sorry, I think we VZ drivers really do get the same book. Mine is the same as the ebay on - published date on mine is Sept 2004.

I think Vauxhall just never bothered upgrading it, as per a previous post I think the VZ series is very misunderstood over here including with Vauxhall publications.

Cheers
Steven

Steven,
I suspect you are right - Vauxhall never bothered to upgrade it. The electronic pdf copy I have (that doesn't match the car) is published Sept 2004.
Perhaps Holden have an appropriate manual?

I have an 04 VXR 5.7, but the original manual that came with it only covers an 04 CV8 5.7, and the 05 VXR 6.0. The cover on it is the same as the ebay one.

Hi Steve,

I have just been having a good look around. Going from the Aus forums, Holden used to have the Holden Club, which you could join and download their owners manuals from - alas, it is no longer running. Everyone says pay Aus $20 for a paper copy from the dealer - which would be quite nice.

However, just been laughing at the US 2004 GTO guide, here - www.ls1gto.com/media/ I especially like the way of explaining the seatbelt !!

Cheers
Steven

Seems none of them appeared to get any as standard short of the earlier CV8's.

My VXR was an ex dealership directors and he had the manuals on order for over a year with no sign. I only managed to get something as they had a CV8 in as part-ex with manuals. Although I still haven't got a service book with any history, still waiting.....
If it was a german car they would have hand delivered a set the same day from the fatherland biggrin

They're not essential but you'd expect a service book at least.

Shows something if even the dealers own people can't get them though.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am certainly a few steps forward.
Some of the stuff on the www.ls1gto.com/media link is particularly useful. For example the 2004 GTO manual is the only place I have seen reasonably complete instructions for the Blaupunkt stereo (though by this time I have figured most of it out!). Interesting Holden press releases here also.
Thanks and regards
Steve

There's a separate manual for the radio, as part of the owners' pack.

You may be in luck. I have an 04 July print Holden VZ Monaro Owners Handbook and an 04 June print Service Booklet. I am not sure if they are the exact right ones for a CV8 but we have checked and it shows the coolant dipstick and the binnacle gauges. We don't use them anymore and they are in as new condition. They are at our HSV Offices in Clayton, Melbourne. Would you like them sent over?
Phil.

Phil,
I would definately be interested in the owner's manual. I have a service book, but it sounds like MadMaxHSV is interested in that.

Thanks to to this forum, and to Phil in particular, I now have a owner's manual that matches my car! The manual is badged Holden, and the car is badged Vauxhall, but I think I can live with that slight discrepancy!
