It's a rebadged Holden so yes.

Besides which CV8's put most VXR's to shame driving

Can never really moan about "something for nothing" but it's a bit tight not giving a pair of tickets really, isn't it - wouldn't hurt the corporate purse particularly but instead you have to faff about purchasing one extra through the normal channels.

Ah well.....

[quote=essexmonarovxr]Hi all, i have to get something off my chest...lol

I think its time for everyone with a Monaro and VXR8 to have a real track day, and see how the cars really go on the track and stop looking at each others engines and exhaust systems and drive the cars like they were made to.
HSV made our cars to race so lets do it! Its so boring talking about how big things are and what they can do.
Lets burn some rubber and see how fast they really are. Also we can test how good our VXR and AP brake upgrades really are on a track.
So who's up for some real fun?stop talking and looking..........lets drive........... I cant think of anything more boring than a group of people talking about rubbish time and time again and never take there own car on the track.
Meeting at a race track like Brands Hatch and looking at shinny engines and not talking the cars on the track is tragic i think.
For you guys that have done many a track day know where im coming from.
So what i think we should do is get everyone who turned up at the Ace Cafe last month and book a track day and have some fun.
Lets all agree to goto Brands Hatch or Silverstone during this year and have some real fun then talk about what we have done and not just chatted in a car park.Lets see how bald our rear tyres are after a track day of pure fun and a addrenaline rush.
This is what its all about. SPEED!!!! and braking every rule in the book.
Im going to book a track day in on Thursday the 12th of June 2008 at Silverstone using the GP circuit so are they any real drivers out there want to join me.
Lets see who the real drivers are and how your cars can really go...............

Not sure that I do know where you are coming from!

You pick on a track like Brands, well have you driven Brands? that is such a technical circuit, and trying to get a fat old V8 around paddock at speed will catch most people out.

There is one of us on here that works for MSV and they run airfield days, and I am sure if you get in touch with him he should be able to organise a Monaro day only.

Oh, and one other thing, is my HSV a "Racing car" No it is not by any stretch of the imagination!

I agree. If you want to tear round a track, use a track car to trash but if you really want to test your car on the road and have fun, come up to the Highlands of Scotland for some of the best driving roads in the UK. Monaros are just too "slow" looking on a track and aren't designed for being poised on the track. Straight line though at the pod..... oh yes yes

Granted their no lotus exige but I for one kept ahead and up with all manner of propper track stuff at the ring last year... and that was in braking and cornering not just straight line stuff. It comes down to the drivers ability alot of the time remember...

Trackday at Silverstone GP would be great, smooth and fast so it suits our cars well. Did trackday there in 2006 and blew most cars awaydriving

Which is why I could be seen at the Pod on a couple of occasions last year, and will again this year. Still frantically trying to sort out a way of getting there on Sunday!
