The weather was strangely warm today (was 16oC when leaving work this afternoon), anyhow - after seeing the upcoming weather forecasts during the week I decided to take the Monaro to work today as it's been a while since it was out to play in weather where I can at least get some grip smile

With it being mid-late afternoon there was a good bit of traffic around, but decided to put the cam onto the fixed mount anyway and show people back home that I still have the "big yin" as they haven't seen it since I moved out here last June... frown

Most done in the clip is 233km/h so ONLY 144mph after having just shifted up into 5th....as I say, too much traffic around to have a proper run out and let her stretch her legs properly.

MENTAL NOTE FOR NEXT TIME - secure the mount a bit better - it would appear to move about to much at times.

Very good.

Just out of interest, what sort of reaction does your Monaro get from the locals?

I think I spend more on fuel taking the local village peeps out for runs in it than I do through general driving - a lot of middle to older age people have no idea at all what it is, whereas the local kids all know it as a GTO from driving it on video games...

Great fun having 2 autobahns to travel from my house in the countryside into Aachen itself each day, 44 is always quiet around 6am when I'm on it and then the 4 is a bit busier due to the traffic from Koln and further east using that road to get through to Western Europe too...

So how have you got the camera mounted? You don't have a roll cage that it attaches to do you? Interested as I'd like to film myself when I do trackdays later on in the year.

I've a Headrest mount that I acquired from BHague - camera kit website - great job too - just need to mount it on my seat next time as with no passenger onboard the seat seems to wobble a bit as you can see in the video frown

he's in Germany Tiler so he's allowed to go that fast. Liked that video you found on youtube of the 170mph+ Monaro run, wouldn't want to be that driver though as I'm sure the police would love to find him....

He he, at WF says, I'm living over here in Germany so all done legally on the autobahns and the camera is on a fixed mount too wink

Been getting the usual "only just over 140, my civic can do that" responses on some other forums, so think I'll have to take it out for a run on Sunday when the traffic's a lot lighter and at least let it stretch it's legs up into the 160's smile

Did another wee run out today while the roads were a bit quieter - GPS showing 274kmph (171mph), so hopefully the 4 cylinder 16v posse will now accept that the big yoke is rather fast smile

My main means of transport has 4 cylinders, 16v, only 1200cc and goes much faster. It also has 2 less wheels and does 35mpg!

Yes but you get wet when it rains, cold as no heater and it hurts when you slip about! coffee
Nice video by the way, what spec is your car?

True, but it knocks 40 mins off my daily commute and I don't like sitting in traffic. My car averages 17mpg on the same route.
